Happy Birthday Shah Rukh Khan!

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan on Friday (2nd Nov) turned 42 and celebrated the occasion by cutting a cake and spending the evening with his family.

The birthday also saw the Bollywood badshah completing 18 years in the film industry during which he has been on the top almost all through and sent producers laughing their way into the bank.

Born and brought up in Delhi, Khan made his debut as an actor with television serial Fauji and then came to Mumbai for his break on the big screen.

During his career so far, he has set new box-office benchmarks with superlative performances in mega hits like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998).

Khan did not rely solely on the traditional image of a hero who can do no ill to others and performed negative roles with elan in Baazigar, Anjaam and Darr.

While most of the actors have failed to have a successful remake film under their belt, Shahrukh experimented with Dilip Kumar's Devdas and Amitabh Bachchan's Don, both blockbusters, and have been hugely successful.

He also returned to television after two decades with the gameshow Kaun Banega Crorepati, which had become synonymous with Amitabh Bachchcan.

Through his latest film Chak De! India, Shahrukh again reasserted his status as the unquestionable and bankable star, a role he hopes to repeat with his six-pack display in the forthcoming film Om Shanti Om.

Bollywood Buzz wishes Shah Rukh Khan a very Happy Birthday :o)
