Aamir, Kiran Rao head for splitsville

Another high-profile Bollywood wedding seems to have gone kaput, with reports of a rift between superstar Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao, surfacing in the media.

Apparently, the 42-year old actor has been living separately from Rao for quite a while now and there are serious differences between the couple, says a popular Bollywood magazine.

The trouble started brewing in paradise over Kiran’s insistence to pursue her career in film-direction, which Aamir was not in favour of. Incidentally, it was work that had brought the two together, as they met on the sets of the Oscar-nominated flick Lagaan, where Kiran was assistant director to Ashutosh Gowarikar.

The couple tied the knot in December 2005, after Aamir had divorced Reena, his wife of over a decade. The Fanaa star has two children from his first marriage.
