Rakhi Sawant in Yash Raj's next?

Item queen of Bollywood - Rakhi Sawant - is keen to get into the A-league of Bollywood.

She recently performed an item number in Rakesh Roshan's Krazzy 4.

And if sources are to be believed, Rakhi has been signed by Yash Raj Films for their forthcoming film!

According to an industry source, Rakhi has been signed for Yash Raj's Shahid Kapoor-Rani Mukherji starrer, to be directed by Anurag Singh.

"It's going to be a life time role for Rakhi. It's not a cameo. She will be seen as a dancer from the Bhand Samaj doing nautanki. Rakhi's role is quite bold just like the way she is in her real life. She will have some really bold dialogues and rocking dance numbers in the film." reveals the source.

It is believed that Rakhi's role in this film will help her raise the bar, and be at par with the 'A' league actresses.

When Rakhi was quizzed by the media about the film, she neither confirmed nor denied the news.

"It's my dream to work with Yash Raj. I am dying to work with them and if I get an opportunity to work with them, it would be like a dream come true."

Yash Raj Films maintain complete secrecy about their projects, but it is believed that the film will commence in March 2008.

Rakhi Sawant's Valentine drama!

In a seeming highlight of Valentine's Day, the original drama girl Rakhi Sawant gave us some more drama!

In a scene that was telecast live on a news channel, her boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi visited her home and gave her a bouquet of red roses and begged for forgiveness.

It was reported a few days ago that, Rakhi split with her boyfriend, leaving him heartbroken.

Initially appearing to be taken aback, Rakhi soon showed her irritation and even slapped him in full view of the cameras!

Abhishek did not give up, and tried to make peace with her.

To this, Rakhi showed more annoyance and called security to throw him out of her home. The security was hesitant to do so, and Rakhi shouted in her now patented dramatic fashion, "Do you guys work for me or for him?"

This is not the first time, Rakhi has thrown a public tantrum.

At a party, singer Mika had kissed Rakhi (allegedly forcibly) and Rakhi told all and sundry how humiliated she was by the incident.

Only recently, she tried to create another controversy when she lost to Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh in the third season of the celebrity dance reality show, Nach Baliye.

Rakhi Sawant to host a talk show on extra marital affairs!

Rakhi Sawant is finally coming out of her shell that she had created after her loss in Nach Baliye 3.

The drama queen had even announced her desire to star in the saas bahu serials, and Rakhi would have been the most explosive daughter-in-law on the small screen!

Anyways, according to the latest buzz going around, Rakhi has finally got a break and is all set to host a talk show on Zee Next.

The talk show is called Arrested by Rakhi and will have people talking about sensitive issues like sex and extra marital affairs. The show will also focus on the latest happenings in the society.

It will see a host of celebrities like Karan Johar taking part in the show. The show will air three episodes per week.

It remains to be seen how good a interviewer Rakhi Sawant turns out, but one thing is guaranteed that, the show will be high on the TRPs (for obvious reasons!).

Bollywood babes performing on New Year's Eve

It's that time of the year when everyone says Goodbye! to the year gone by and get all geared up to say Welcome! to the New Year.

In between the departure of the old year and the advent of New Year lies something like the midnight for which everyone waits with bated breath, to welcome the New Year with open arms.

For the urban crowd, the New Year celebrations include shelling out money in some of the 5 star mega structured hotels to see some of the Bollywood heroines, performing live.

Topping this year's pricey-list is none other than Bipasha Basu who will be performing at the JW Marriott, Juhu.

She is reportedly said to be charging a staggering Rs 90 lakhs!

The costs of the tickets are kept at Rs 11,500 per person (including taxes and food). But then, who needs booze when the intoxicating Bips is around!

Though some portion of the market says that the figures have just been exaggerated (and that the actual figures rest at Rs 72 lakhs), whereas the other portion of the market says that the figure quoted is lesser than what she is charging (and that the actual figures rest at a staggering Rs 1.23 crores!)

Rumors have it that come what may, Bipasha cannot be a Mallika Sherawat as the latter's pull is far greater than the former.

Last year, Mallika pulled off a show-stopper of a show with a price tag attached of Rs 50 lakhs for a half-an-hour performance!

The Drama Queen Rakhi Sawant, along with her boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi and DJ Whosane, will also be performing on New Year's Eve.

You can find all of them performing at Tulip Star Hotel, Juhu. The charges here are Rs 7000 for a couple entry with unlimited food and drinks.

Rakhi is reported to have charged the organizers a whopping Rs 51 lakhs for her performance!

Rumors are also rife that Rakhi will make the most of this platform to project her angst against Star TV for their allegedly rigged voting system in Nach Baliye, where she and her boyfriend Abhishek lost to Sanjeeda Sheikh and Aamir Ali.

Not far behind are Tanushree Dutta and Koena Mitra, who will be joined along with the songster Mika in Sahara Star, Mumbai.

The rates of the tickets here are priced at Rs 20,000 for couples and Rs 11,500 for singles.

Koena is supposedly charging the organizers Rs 27 lakhs for her 16 minute performance whereas Tanushree Dutta has been signed up for Rs 15 lakhs for her 24 minutes performance.

The next in row are an array of celebrities who will be India-trotting as a part of their New Year performances:

Amrita Arora (performing in Bangalore) and Malaika Arora (performing in Delhi)

Neha Dhupia - performing in Ahmedabad.

Udita Goswami - performing in Pune.

One of the event organizers said, "The charges of these stars are directly proportional to their popularity. Malaika Arora command easily upto Rs 25-30 lakhs whereas Amrita Arora charges Rs 12 lakhs.

Neha Dhupia charges anywhere between Rs 15-20 lakhs and Udita Goswami, who used to charge Rs 15 lakhs for any performance earlier, has now reduced to Rs 5-8 lakhs."

With so much happening this New Year's Eve, who wouldn't wanna be a sell-e-brity!!

Rakhi Sawant in Aditya Raj Kapoor's Baltidevi

Rakhi Sawant is all set to sizzle in Aditya Raj Kapoor's (son of Shammi Kapoor ) next venture titled Baltidevi: Queen of South Hall.

Aditya Raj Kapoor, known for making conventional cinema, is highly impressed by Sawant's personality.

Aditya is confident about Sawant for the lead role, as she easily fits the bill. He adds that, the film revolves around the woman going from rags to riches in South Hall and Sawant would do justice to such a kind of role.

Rakhi is on the cloud 9, and commented that she is fortunate to work with Shammi Kapoor's son and claims that she won't be exposing in any scene in the film.

Rakhi Sawant in Rakesh Roshan's Krazy 4

The outspoken item gal is ready to strut her stuff once again, this time for the Rakesh Roshan-produced film Krazy 4 .

Rakhi Sawant says her career has been on the rise ever since she appeared on Karan Johar's show Koffee With Karan . It was after this show that she got an offer from Rakesh Roshan to dance to an item number in Krazy 4.

The movie stars Arshad Warsi, Dia Mirza, Irrfan Khan, Rajpal Yadav, Rajat Kapoor and Juhi Chawla. It has been directed by Roshan's assistant Raja Sen.

Rakhi says she is extremely excited about bagging this plum item.

In fact, the sex kitten has already begun working on her look for this song. She has lost around six kg of weight. Stylist Perry Patel will work on Rakhi's hairdo and give her an entirely new and fresh look. Ganesh Acharya will choreograph the song.

Rakhi wants to put her best foot forward in this item. She says her sexy look in the song will blow people away.

Rakhi Sawant's exaggerated physical assets have often raised a question: Is she all natural?

Rakhi's bust line today is much bigger than what it was a few years back. Many obvious guesses have been made in this regard, but Rakhi never came clean on the issue. But now, she has made a sensational revelation.

In an interview to Mumbai's Mid-Day, Rakhi has shown remarkable frankness in accepting that she has got breast implants to enhance her beauty and sex appeal.

Rakhi told the tabloid that she got the implants one and a half years back by a specialist doctor in Dubai. Rakhi revealed that before the operation she was quite flat on top. Previously she was 32. Now she is 36. However, the busty actress added that she would remove the implants for an upcoming dance show and get them back after six months.

Rakhi says it is not a big deal to get silicone enhancement as, according to her, many actresses in Bollywood have done it!

The grapevine says Rakhi Sawant - Bollywood’s oomph girl - has lost her curves!

Rakhi went on some kind of drastic diet and has allegedly left her assets on the dietician's table. Reason? Because she now wants to be a Hollywood Size 2.

Those who still want to see Rakhi in her early shape may get an opportunity to do so in Rahul Rawail’s Buddha Mar Gaya, where they(the curves, et al) will be on display for the last time.

Viewers of TV chat show Koffee With Karan saw an oft repeated scene in Bollywood last Sunday - when "item girl" Rakhi Sawant broke down and got emotional in her defense. This is a road that has been traveled many a time by Bollywoods item girls, when they claim their innocence. Rakhi Sawant is not new to accusations of this kind. It all started with the Mika kiss, was prolonged by her Kohlapur antics and now she has been opposed because she shot an advertisement for a soap company in which she bathed in front of a Buddha statue.

She said herself that she has been attacked by the media who have ruthlessly coined her an item girl. The fact of the matter is that she does all of it with great pride. She might sob about being ridiculed for it but in the end she will continue to do it despite whoever says whatever. She also mentioned during the show that she has worked hard to come to where she is in the industry. Well we all agree that she has worked hard in indeed. But how hard does one have to work to accomplish a sexist image like the one she has?
She is not alone in this endeavour. Her partners in crime Sherlyn Chopra aka Mona Chopra has also made drastic comments about the press and people in general demeaning her. She recently claimed in an interview that she was a serious actress and not an item girl - which was the last serious movie she did? Of course there are others who carry the item girl tag with grace - take Kareena Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat for instance. They have gone past it and have made respectable actress out of themselves - and they are doing great movies now.

So does Rakhi Sawant deserve the sympathy (aka respectability) that she seems to be asking for. She herself said that people who used to despise her give her a lot more respect that they used because they heard that she was coming on Koffee With Karan. Any other takers?

Rakhi booked for hurting sentiments

Item girl Rakhi Sawant and controversies seem to have become synonymous. On Monday, Rakhi was booked by the Frezarpura police in Amravati for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of a community.

In a television show, Rakhi Ki Raisi, that was aired on April 28, viewers were given a glimpse into her lavish and ostentatious lifestyle. While taking the TV crew around the house, Rakhi also took them to her bathroom, where she had kept a statuette of Buddha. A section of viewers in Amravati took strong objection to this, tagging it an “insulting” gesture.

On Monday, a large number of Dalits led by Dilip Edatkar and Dadasaheb Kshirsagar staged demonstrations against Rakhi at the district collectorate. The demonstrators tore and burnt her effigy and posters and hit placards of her pictures with shoes and slippers.

According to sources, Mahesh Tayade of Dalit Panthers lodged a complaint against Rakhi with Frezarpura police station. In his complaint, Tayade stated that by keeping a statuette of Lord Buddha in her bathroom, Rakhi has hurt the religious sentiments of the community and she must seek public apology.

According to the demonstrators, Sawant was shown in a bath tub during the television show against the background of Buddha’s statuette.

With the world cup fever hitting the nation, television channel FILMY, in its continuous endeavor to give its viewers the best, has launched a new presentation ‘Rakhi ke Bouncers’. The show has the sizzling Rakhi Sawant teaming up with seasoned comedian Suresh Menon to add a different dimension of entertainment to the World Cup. Rakhi Ke Bouncers is packaged in a 3-minute vignette format which will air through the day on FILMY, starting March 23.

In Rakhi Ke Bouncers, Rakhi and Suresh will give their comments on cricket terminology, match results, statistics etc., in their inimitable, funny style. Rakhi Sawant plays a ‘bindaas bimbette commentator’, who knows all about fashion and films but nothing about cricket. Rakhi-Mika kiss-n-tell not over yet

While the year gone by will go down in the public memory as a year of kiss and tell – especially for the fans of item girl Rakhi Sawant - 2007 promises to have much more in store.

The Rakhi-Mika kiss episode is far from over. In fact, the pop singer – who invited the bombshell’s wrath for having “outraged her modesty” – thinks the episode was indeed worth making a song and dance about.

He has gone ahead and made a music video with the singer duo Meet Brothers.

Rakhi Sawant in a Comedy

The after-shocks of Bigg Boss are being felt in the most unexpected places. Rakhi Sawant who was happy being the item bomb in films that flaunted her flesh in flashy appearances, has now mended her ways.

In Rahul Rawail's ensemble comedy Buddha Mar Gaya, which starts shooting on Jan 25, Rakhi has been cast in a tailor-made role that requires no oomph, only chutzpah.

Says Rawail, "I was hunting for a girl to play this zany liberated frank and fearless girl called Kim in my comedy. No one seemed to fill bill... until I saw Rakhi on Bigg Boss. I loved her spirit and honesty in the show. I immediately decided to cast her."

Rakhi who will join the ensemble cast comprising Om Puri, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher (who plays a corpse!) and Mobhano Modi-Kotwal, had no inhibitions about being inhibited for the first time.

Rakhi Sawant back in Bigg Boss

In spite of the predictions that Rakhi Sawant has been ruled out from the Wild Card Entry in Bigg Boss’ house, she is back. I believe a right decision by the Channel as far as entertainment and TRP is concerned.

I swear, what an entry she had!Dressed up as Santa, with a huge red bag with chocolates and envelopes for everyone in it! The drama queen was very true to her title and did a dance number before Bigg Boss audience. When she handed over the envelopes to everyone she made it a point to say that she likes everyone. Finally Anupama vacated the house to finish her “Adhuri Kahani” (remaining part of the story) with Aryan. And what a surprise Bigg Boss had for her among the audience- the lover boy himself…wow what a drama! Time will tell if the romance between Anupama and Aryan was real or fake or will they stage a break-up drama too. Now what remains to be seen is whether Baba Sehgal will enter the house or not.

Rakhi Sawant wants re-entry in 'Big Boss'

 

After creating a furore over her ouster from the TV show 'Big Boss', actress Rakhi Sawant now wants to get back into it through a 'wild card' entry.

And her reason to get back into the "hell" (Big Boss) is not because of money but for those million viewers who have started knowing and respecting her, Sawant told reporters here.

She blamed the fight between Amit and her as the decisive factor for her ouster from the show. "There was lot of grouping in the show and I unfortunately could not associate myself into that atmosphere", said Sawant.

Rakhi said that she never invites controversy but her latest spat with Amit was inevitable as the actor used some derogatory remarks. "Amit was very arrogant and had strong hatred for women" said the actress. She also roped in media for creating controversy.

On whether there were any differences among the participants, Rakhi said initially everybody feared her popularity but later came to know her as a good human being who never hides her emotions and speaks the truth.

Rakhi, who left four films and number of music videos for the TV show said that her forthcoming video "Super Girl" was all set to rock the stands and wished it to create magic as her early videos.

Asked about her choice to oust the next contestant, she preferred Rupali over Aryan, as Rupali always posed to be what she is'nt.

Sharing the stage along with Sawant was Senior Vice President of Soni Entertainment channel Aseem Kapoor who said that the show was inspired from "Big Brother" and the channel made an effort to converge people from different walks of life into a common platform.
