Yana Gupta gets candid on Bollywood, music, fitness book and break up

Yana Gupta has moved on and away from her 'item girl' status.

She speaks to TOI on her future plans, things that keep her busy and her breakup from hubby.

How does she manage to look so sizzling in a photo?
She smiles, "It comes naturally to me. I always try to be myself."

And where has Yana been all these days?
"In London, busy recording my album (and doing a covershoot for Maxim!). It's basically a pop album and it'll soon be out in the market. I enjoy music, am passionate about it, in fact. And I hope it shows in the album."

And Bollywood?
"For the moment, no Bollywood. It will be more music for me. I am not saying that I will not work in movies anymore, but I will like to sing the songs myself and perform them on screen as well."

There is more to Yana than just song and dance. The Czech model is also penning a fitness book these days..
"It is more about my experiences of keeping fit. These days, I am busy juggling between composing music for my album and writing the book. I will hopefully be able to launch both by the end of this year."

She also seems to have dealt with her break-up with hubby pretty well..
"Yes, I have made myself busy and am loving every moment of it."

Looking for love again, is she?
"Not really. I am single, but not available," signs off Yana with a smile.

Yana Gupta in Maxim for the second time!

Such is her appeal that for the second time this year Maxim has put Yana Gupta on the cover!

If you have wondered what Yana has been up to these days, then, let us inform you that she was in London, where she has not just created a mere whirlwind but a voluptuous volcano altogether, by posing for some real hot pictures in the latest issue of Maxim!

Yana reminded all her deprived fans that she hasn't moved to London forever.

It's just that she keeps traveling (read 'shuffling') between London and Mumbai as she is working (read 'songwriting') on a music album (which is going to be her kinda' stuff like jazz) in London, where she has found a pretty good producer who has produced albums with Bryan Adams and Sugababes!

Ask her about her present status and she is ready with an answer that she is single and is ready to mingle!

She states that her man is not about looks, achievements or money. It's just that he should gotta be smart, coz this gorgeous lady doesn't like hanging out with brainless hunks. There's one more hint for all the 'probables' that if you want to 'floor' her (not literally, you freak!) make her laugh and simply be witty.

Yana was cool as cucumber during this near-bare-all shoot, for the only reason that it was shot in London, which - according to this lovely lady - is a cool place to-do such shoots since 'people there are comfortable with nudity'!

So, the next time, you plan to work with this lady, you know how to make her 'feel at ease'… London is the way to go, guys!

Yana does a campaign for PETA India

Clad in a black outfit created by Bollywood designer Rocky S, model and actor Yana Gupta appears next to the tagline " Bears Are Not Item Numbers" in a new ad for petaDishoom, the youth division of PETA India.

Shot by ace photographer Atul Kasbekar, the ad is part of the group's continuing campaign to raise awareness of cruelty to bears that are used for entertainment.

Why is Yana so angry about cruelty to bears?

"Dancing" bears are a common - but tragic - sight in India. When they are just 1 year old, cubs have ropes forced through their noses without any painkillers. During this process, a group of people hold the cub down while a red-hot needle is forced through the squealing animal's nose. A rope is then shoved into the piercing, which usually becomes infected. When the ropes attached to the traumatized bears are tugged, the animals lift their legs and "dance". Male cubs are castrated with a razor at a very young age, also without anesthesia or antibiotics. Bears are trained through a regime of pain and starvation, and they rarely survive more than eight years - a third of their natural life expectancy. "

Under the 1972 Indian Wildlife Protection Act, it is illegal to capture and trade bears in India. However, this law is blatantly ignored, and bears can still be seen on the streets of India. In August 2003, PETA India helped rescue six bears that were being forced to beg on the streets of Mumbai.

"Bears are forced to 'dance' through a regimen of pain and suffering", says Yana. "Do not patronize animal acts."

Aftab and Yana break up!

Tinsel town is abuzz with talks of split between Yana Gupta and Aftab Shivdasani.

Their affair was not very old. Yana and Aftab did not make any attempt to hide their relationship from media. In fact, just a few months back, they had claimed that the understanding between them was so good that Yana actually encouraged Aftab to kiss his co-star Celina Jaitley in Red. But today, the equation between Yana and Aftab has changed.

Not long ago, Yana had told a tabloid that Aftab is not her taste. The Czech beauty said she takes a lot of time to know a person. She has been friendly with Aftab for months and now that she has known him, she feels he is not the person she would like to marry.

Yana, who has been married and divorced in the past, says she doesn't want to rush into a relationship only to regret later. She says she is looking for a man with whom she can happily spend the rest of her life. Marriage is high on her agenda.

Aftab, on the other hand, is learnt to have taken the split in his own stride. He is still very friendly with Yana.

Lets hope for the best for both of them!

First Look - Adnan Sami's Kisi Din Featuring Yana Gupta

Ok guys.. I just got hold of the new single from Adnan Sami from his latest music album Kisi Din featuring Yana Gupta. Bollywood Buzz was one of the first blogs to break the news of Yana performing in a music video for Adnan Sami.

The song has been beautifully shot in Malaysia by Marlon Rodriques.

Adnan Sami's new Album with T-Series Kisi Din will feature the attractive and svelte Yana Gupta who will be seen on-screen after quite some time.

This dazzling lady charged absolutely nothing for the video! When asked for the reason for this generous gesture, Yana had only one thing to say, "Well, the best things in life come for free! Also I truly enjoyed working with Adnan and the director as well. I feel this video will project me in a very different way and that's why I did it." Looks like the spirit of generosity is in the air!

With this album Yana joins the elite list of leading ladies that Adnan Sami has revered in his albums. The lady has been keeping quite busy by endorsing a fitness brand and is about to come out with her own fitness book as well as a show on it! What's more she is also going to conduct women's workshops. Quite a brand ambassador for women power!

This album in collaboration with T-Series is a much awaited album after a hiatus of three years when Adnan was completely immersed in playback singing. In this album he is featured with his much anticipated new look.

Yana Gupta penning a book

Model and item girl Yana Gupta , who has been away from films for some time, is penning a book on nutrition now.

"It's a fitness and health book. I have been into nutrition since I was 16. I am a fitness trainer and also an acupuncture practitioner who treats people," Yana said.


The girl who shot to fame with her item number `Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo' in 2003 said her book would be ready by the middle of next year and Penguin Publications is publishing it.

"In this book, I will advise people to eat nutritious food. I am not advocating any dieting, in fact, people should eat five to six times a day in a smaller quantity under proper guidance," Yana, who was in Panaji to promote her New-year eve show `Goa Vibe 2006' along with Pooja Bedi, said.
"I began writing in February last year and later approached Penguin Publications with whom I have entered into an agreement," she stated.

Asked whether anyone is helping her to shape up this book, Yana replies negatively. "I have been consulting doctors before writing few things," she said.

The book largely talks of Indian food, besides food from few other parts of globe. "Indian food means variety of Indian food...it talks of different parts of the country," she revealed.

Yana terms her brainchild as "healthy lifestyle" book," which will be printed in attractive colors with the help of professional designers.

If this is not enough, the Babuji fame girl, has also inked an agreement with Indiagames company to develop health mobile downloads. "It will be called Yana's fitness zone wherein mobile users will be able to get access to fitness and beauty tips at a click of a button," she explains.

The zone will also talk of her experiences during shooting and travelling. "I have partnered with Indiagames company for this zone. Later, it would be sold to the mobile service providers," she said.

Though fully engrossed in her fitness adventures, Yana is not away from acting, music and glamour. "I am going to do an item number in the movie `Kaise Kahen'. Also I am planning an international music album, I want to go more into music now," she said refraining from further divulging details of her musical venture.
