Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta claim players for Indian Premier League

Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta have decided to throw their weight behind the Indian Premier League with their respective teams.
In Wednesday's auction for players, SRK bagged Shoaib Akhtar for $425,000 (Rs 1.7 crore), Ricky Ponting for $400,000 (Rs 1.6 crore) and Chris Gayle for $800,000 (Rs 3.2 crore).
Preity claimed Mahela Jayawardene for $475,000 (Rs 1.9 crore), S Sreesanth for $ 625,000 (Rs 2.5 crore) and Brett Lee for $900,000 (Rs 3.6 crore).
While money talks - with Bollywood backing - it seems to be bursting into a song and dance!
King Khan is good news for the business, as he already has his finger in many pies. Apart from being a producer, he's a star endorser and a television host too.
The Chak De! India hero is also no stranger to motivating teams!
And while Preity Zinta may no longer have great roles to boast about onscreen currently, she's taking her new role as entrepreneur quite seriously.
"Films are my first child. Cricket now is my second child. I will give my life to it. We want to put up the best team and win all matches. We are here not for business, but to support the sport," she said.
Well then, it seems, IPL Twenty20 is the next most awaited thing of the year!

Shah Rukh to make Bollywood's costliest movie!

The movie for children will be in the VFX medium, using computer-generated special effects.
"It will be a movie featuring a lot of children, who wish for bad things, but get a shocking reality check when they come true", Shah Rukh told Patrick Frater of Variety (Hollywood's top trade magazine) in a recent interview in Berlin.
He is talking to Eros Multimedia and Charles Darby (of The Matrix and Minority Report fame), who recently co-ventured with Eros to launch Mumbai-based special effects Eyeqube Studios.
Shah Rukh said he was planning the movie under his home banner, Red Chillies Productions.
The new venture - to be directed by Anubhav Sinha - has a budget of $25 million (almost Rs.1 billion), making it the most expensive Bollywood movie to date!
"We are dedicating the next eight-nine months, taking the best technicians from around the world and asking them to help us make the best VFX film India has ever made. It will be madcap, over the top. I want it to be as beautiful as Spider-Man in terms of effects," Khan told Variety.

Shah Rukh Khan gets candid on Valentine's Day

But call him that, and Shah Rukh Khan just throws up his hands and says resignedly, "People call me a lot of names; I don't mind being called any!
Then on a serious note, the King of Romance adds, "I have reached the giving stage of my Bollywood love affair. I want to give more and more love to my audience through my work. If you want to call it love...please go ahead!"
But SRK is not the kind to straitjacket love in the confines of Valentine's Day.
"I have never really understood this day. According to me, love has so many facets. For instance, if you asked Don Juan, he would have said that loving 1700 women was the nicest thing in his life.
And I think I would respect that also. The beauty of love is that it has no boundaries. For me, love means my children. I am in love with the undiplomatic and innocent stage of life that they are in," he says.

Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan coming together in the desi version of Jerry Maguire!

The superstars (and bosom friends) may finally feature together in a potboiler, which is a remake of the Tom Cruise starrer, Jerry Maguire (1996).
Interestingly, Salman's younger brother Sohail Khan was seen pitching the project to a major film studio, a few days back and B-town sources indicate that he has a ready, bound script of the Jerry Maguire remake.
Salman will essay the role of Cuba Gooding Junior (who won an Oscar for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role) and Sohail wants to cast Shah Rukh as the ambitious sports agent, played by Tom Cruise in the original.

Shah Rukh Khan joins Mahatma Gandhi@Grevin Wax Museum, Paris this April

The superstar is now set to be moulded in wax for the second time - this time at the famed Grevin Wax Museum in Paris, this April.
What's even more interesting is that, King Khan will become the only living Indian to have his statue installed at this museum.
The only other Indian whose statue graces Grevin's is none other than Mahatma Gandhi!
In fact, compared to the replica at Madame Tussaud's, this one is supposed to have more of a likeness to the star, and Shah Rukh himself, is said to be impressed with the handiwork of the artisans.
Shah Rukh is expected to unveil the statue at a grand function, which may also be attended by a few of his close Bollywood friends.
Well, it sure seems like France is as besotted with Shah Rukh as India is, what with the government there having just honoured him with the Insignia of Officer in the Order Of Arts and Literature and is extremely keen that, he visit Paris to promote Indian cinema there.

Shah Rukh Khan conferred top French honour

The French ambassador to India, Jerome Bonnafont, conferred the title on Shah Rukh after the inauguration of the first Rendezvous with French Cinema festival at Andheri, a northwestern suburb of Mumbai.
"Entertainment is something where one cannot be selfish, as it is purely for others," SRK said after receiving the award.
He said he was in this field only to entertain the audience. He also added jokingly that he loves the manner in which romance is depicted in French movies!

The Order of Arts et Lettres - created in 1957 - is one of the four Ministerial Honours of the French republic, and was established to reward artists, who have gained fame for their works in the field of arts and literature, and have promoted these fields.
Shah Rukh Khan is now in the august company of other recepients which include Indian director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, author Arundhati Roy, singer David Bowie and Bob Dylan, Hollywood actors George Clooney, Leonardo Di Caprio and Clint Eastwood.

Shah Rukh Khan's new look overtakes the Undertaker!

But Shah Rukh Khan will not be put off. Yes, take a peek at the new SRK today.
Post Chak De! India, if the Bollywood Badshah worked on his new six-pack look for Om Shanti Om, then post OSO, this is how he looks!
From the lover boy of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to the mature hockey coach of Chak De! India to the latest muscular hero, SRK has made the transition with ease. And now this!
Though, like I said earlier, the 6 feet 7 inches bruiser who provides the chills and spills of the WWE ring, is not going to be very amused.
As it is, Undertaker's massive body took quite a trouncing 12 years ago from Akshay Kumar in Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, and now this image is bound to hound Undertaker with apna SRK getting into the act of heavy breathing, deadly silence and murder in the eyes.
Tsk, tsk, maybe it's really time for the Undertaker to Rest In Peace!

Shah Rukh Khan: Brand Ambassador for Formula One's Force India

This time round, he has managed to rope in Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan as the face of Force India for the 2008 Formula 1 season.
A high-decibel multi-media campaign featuring SRK will be unleashed from December 26, aimed at garnering the support of the Indian masses for the team next season. SRK will not charge any money for lending his face to the team.
"While exploring various options, we thought the fastest way to announce our arrival in the country was to use Shah Rukh Khan as the team's brand ambassador. He is famous, successful and a potent icon of young India.
Those are the same values that the team is trying to project on the biggest stage of motorsports. The advertising campaign will convey the message that India has arrived," said Vikram Malhotra, marketing head of Force India.

Nokia ropes in Shah Rukh Khan

But that's exactly what Nokia has done by getting on board Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for its latest brand campaign!
The first campaign featuring the actor goes on air today with a TV commercial.
Explains Devinder Kishore, director (marketing), Nokia: "As a brand we have always ranked high on facets such as reliability, authenticity and our image among the youth, something which Shahrukh too stands for."

Shah Rukh Khan's wife Gauri is Vogue's cover girl!

No, it doesn't have anything to do with his six packs. Rather, it's his wife Gauri Khan who is the center of attention.
The mother of two has been chosen as the cover girl of Vogue India for its January edition!
The pictures were shot against the eight-floor extension of the Khans' sprawling home, Mannat.
"This is not my profession," Gauri said. "It has to be something really new and unusual to make me want to do something like this. I did enjoy the shoot but to be honest, I wouldn't do it very often."
"This collaboration between Gauri and Vogue India is a natural fit," says Priya Tanna, Editor - Vogue India.
"It is her first solo cover and a coup of sorts for Vogue. That she is stylish, enigmatic, and poised is known, but at the shoot we saw another side of her, that of a cover girl. Even in the frames she shares with Shah Rukh, she holds her own impressively. She offers delightful peeks into her life, her wardrobe and her man. Gauri is a true Voguette."
The issue will hit newsstands on December 20.

Shah Rukh wants to make OSO 2 with Amitabh, Aamir and Dilip Kumar!

But what made the most popular song from Om Shanti Om still pretty much incomplete was the absence of some celebrities who could not be a part of it due to prior work commitments or other unavoidable issues.
Like Amitabh Bachchan for instance who, if not for Abhishek's impending marriage, would surely have been a part of the entire song sequence along with son Abhishek Bachchan.
Aamir Khan too was conspicuous by his absence.
Director Farah clarifies, "I had approached Aamir but he was too busy shooting his film Ghajini and wasn't able to be a part of my film. I wish I could bring Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman dancing together in my film."
There were others too who missed out.
Among them were Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu who were the only senior actors who could not make it for the song though Shah Rukh and Farah wished for it desperately.
Shah Rukh, who was initially tagged of having a strong Dilip Kumar hangover, has always looked up to the senior Devdas as his idol.
Shah Rukh says, "Now I feel I will have to make a sequel to Om Shanti Om and request all the celebrities who missed out from the original song to shoot a song with me in the sequel."
We would eagerly wait for OSO 2, Shah Rukh!

Shah Rukh Khan gets a Rs 2-crore extortion call

He has been receiving extortion calls from gangster Bunty Pandey, who targets Bollywood biggies for money, just like Abu Salem did.
Shahrukh got repeated calls from the gangster demanding a sum of Rs 2 crore. He informed Mumbai police and its Anti-Terrorist Squad about the calls. It is reported that Pandey sent six goons to Shahrukh to speak to him personally.
The Crime Branch and ATS teams are on the trail of the gangsters and they have been successful to some extent on their mission. The security around Shahrukh's bungalow Mannat has been tightened.
This is not the first time Shahrukh has been the target of the underworld.
Earlier, after the shooting of Dil To Pagal Hai, he had received threat calls from Abu Salem, who wanted him to act in a certain movie being produced by his acquaintance and Khan had refused him.
