Update : Bombay To Bangkok

“When I have eight original scripts, I don’t think I’d be interested in making a remake,” said new-age director Nagesh Kukoonoor at the launch of his romantic comedy film Bombay to Bangkok under the banner of Mukta Searchlight yesterday. (Ironically not many know that his last film Dor was a remake of a Malayalam film Perumazhakkalam). The film stars Shreyas Talpade and Thai actress Lina Christianson. Speaking at the occasion producer Subhash Ghai adjudged Nagesh as a “great director” with whom he had delivered a quality film in Iqbal that raked in the moolah at the Box Office besides winning many awards.

“I am very happy he has brought another fine subject in Bombay to Bangkok. Such scripts fulfill the aim of Mukta Searchlight that supports the sense of independent cinema, good cinema made within a reasonable budget,” said Subhash Ghai in his role of a veteran filmmaker patronizing quality films like Joggers Park and Iqbal.

Talking about the subject of Bombay to Bangkok, Nagesh said that he has been a frequent visitor to Thailand. “I truly enjoyed the place…this is a place I wanted to showcase in the film. I’ve tried to understand the Thai culture and from my research I can say that there are a lot of similarities between Indian and Thai cultures. It’s Same Same…But Different.” Same Same…But Different also happens to be the catch line of the film that is written in a zany manner on the film’s poster that resembles an Airline Boarding Pass.

Actor Shreyas Talpade who won the Star Screen Award for the Best Actor in a Comic Role for Kukoonoor’s Dor this year was “extremely honoured and happy at working with Mukta once again after Iqbal.” Stunning Thai actress Lina Christianson started off by saying “Swastika” which can be Namaste, Hello or Salaam as Indians are familiar with. “I am very honoured and really excited,” she said.

While Subhash Ghai is hoping that Bombay to Bangkok will be a “Superhit of 2007”, Nagesh spelled out the premise of the film by stating in lucid terms, “The basic concept of the film is that it’s a romantic comedy….There’s a lot of chaos…And in the end everyone lives happily ever after.” Considering Nagesh Kukoonoor always comes up with something different, this ticket to Bangkok is something that the cine goers must be surely looking forward to….Isn’t it!

Shreyas says "Om Shanti Om"

Shreyas Talpade could not have asked for a better birthday gift this month. The talented actor, who won hearts with his unadulterated performances in Iqbal and Dor, has another feather in his hat.

He will start shooting for SRK production’s Om Shanti Om which is going to be directed by Shah Rukh’s close affiliate Farah Khan.

A delighted Shreyas says that it is nothing less than his dream come true to be sharing the big screen with the King Khan. The actor, whose birthday falls in the third week this month, considers Om Shanti Om as an advance birthday gift.

After Iqbal and Dor, Shreyas won accolades for his performance as Arjun Fernandes in the comedy Apna Sapna Money Money. But success has never gotten to his head. It seems that he has no heroine opposite him in Om Shanti Om (just like Dor and Iqbal), while supermodel Deepika Padukone makes her Hindi film debut opposite SRK in this movie. But Shreyas says that this doesn’t bother him as he is too thrilled to be working with SRK. Shreyas also reveals that he has bagged a role which not many actors of his age get to play.

His mentor Nagesh Kukunoor has already cast him for his next flick Mumbai to Bangkok. Shreyas has also completed Prakash Jha’s Love Story, where he is paired opposite former Miss India Nikita Anand. It seems like the birthday boy has been showered with luck this year.

Shreyas Talpade to share screen space with SRK

View Apna Sapna Money Money..? Movie StillsShreyas Talpade seems to be finding his way quite firm and clear in the big league.

2007 would be a big year for him, as he would be seen sharing screen space with none other than Shahrukh Khan in OM SHANTI OM. A film based on the theme of reincarnation, OM SHANTI OM is directed by Farah Khan who makes her second film after MAIN HOON NAA. Shreyas plays one of the key characters in the film and is delighted about bagging the project.

Not many are aware that Shreyas’ first film was RAGHU MORE - BACHELOR OF HEARTS, which hardly boasted of any credentials and vanished without a trace.

He had also done THE HANGMAN but the film has been stuck in the cans forever. There were two more projects PIRATE and THE MAKING OF A PAINTER, which were announced but while Priyadarshan has delayed getting PIRATE on the floors there is not much progress of M F Hussain’s THE MAKING OF A PAINTER either.

Recognition came in the form of IQBAL where he enjoyed backing from the likes of Subhash Ghai and Nagesh Kukunoor. His next release DOR was again a high point in his career since he reunited with Nagesh after an year. Subhash Ghai's next APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY saw him in a different light altogether as he came up with a 'bindaas' comic act.

Download Dor WallpapersA versatile actor, he would also be seen in Narendra Bajaj / Shyam Bajaj produced AGAR where he co-stars with Tusshar Kapoor and Koena Mitra for this Anant Mahadevan directed film. In the film he plays the mature role of a psychiatrist who attempts to cure Tusshar Kapoor of the problems he is facing.

In addition there is Prakash Jha's LOVE STORY where he's paired opposite Miss India Nikita Anand.
