Touches of Jessica Lal murder in Halla Bol?

http://www.ourbollywood.com/uploads/hull~www.ourbollywood.com%202.jpg
Ajay Devgan plays a character with a surname Khan in Rajkumar Santoshi's much awaited Halla Bol. In fact Ajay's full name in the movie is Sameer Khan, and he plays an actor.

A section of the media also feels that there is a touch of the infamous Jessica Lal murder in the Ajay Devgan-Vidya Balan starrer.

He plays an unprincipled star in Halla Bol, who is a prime witness to a high profile murder, where the witnesses turn hostile but ultimately it is Ajay, who finds his conscience and decides to reveal the truth in the court, against all odds.

Ajay Devgan to play King Ashoka

http://www.hindu.com/2006/02/25/images/2006022513030501.jpg
According to Ashok Anchan from Business Of Cinema, despite the dismal business done by the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Asoka, directed by Santosh Sivan in 2001, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi plans to make this historical on a big canvas soon.

Santoshi is busy completing Halla Bol, which is currently in the post-production stages. When asked about the proposed film, he neither confirms nor denies the project.

However, reliable sources say that Santoshi has finalised a historical script, based on the life and times of Emperor Ashoka. A lot of research work has been done for the film and Ajay Devgan has been pencilled in to play the central role. The title has not yet been finalised but the shooting is expected to commence in August this year and Santoshi plans to wind up the film by December.

Leading art directors from the industry are busy erecting a lavish set for the film, which will also be shot in the forests of Thailand, Leh and India. Santoshi also plans to make another mega mythological project, Ramayan, next year after completing the film on Ashoka.

Devgan bares all (well, almost)!

Ram Gopal Varma’s Sholay is almost complete, save for some patchwork scenes, and it seems that talk about the film will not subside until it finally hits the big screen.

The latest tongue-teaser from the film is the sensuous song, Chaa Raha (picturised on Ajay Devgan and Nisha Kothari), which was shot only recently. It has a bare-chested Devgan in the most intimate poses with Kothari, which is probably a first for the brooding actor!

Says Ramu, “It’s one of the most arresting songs of my career as the concept is so different. I have tried to capture different images with each image creating a different emotion. Each shot is different and has a certain intensity, the most intense being love. The way the characters in Sholay, including that of Veeru (Devgan) and Ghungroo (Kothari), have been designed has brought certain changes in the context of relationships. Veeru and Ghungroo’s love story is much stronger in my Sholay.”

Ramu says Ajay wasn’t uncomfortable when told about the bare-chested scenes. Though this is probably the first time Ajay is attempting such an intimate song sequence,

Ramu chuckles, “I explained the concept to him and he was absolutely cool. We have worked together in Company and Bhoot and Ajay trusts me as a director. I told him that I’d had enough of shooting barely-clad women. For a change, I wanted to shoot a barely-clad man!”

It's 'You, Me And Hum' for Ajay-Kajol Devgan

Talented actress Kajol, who made a comeback with Aamir Khan in "Fanna" last year, will now be seen with hubby Ajay Devgan in their home production "You, Me and Hum".

"I won't be able to give you much detail. Yes, Ajay is making this film with Kajol. He is producing as well as directing it," said Kumar Mangat, Ajay's business manager.

Scripted by Ajay, the film is a love story and will go on the floors soon.

The last time they were seen together was in 2000 in a children's film "Raju Chacha" - it was Kajol's first film after marriage. Loaded with special effects, "Raju Chacha" was one of the most expensive films of 2000 but sank without a trace.

After the film's failure, Ajay never made an attempt at producing films and concentrated on his acting career and gave powerful performances in "Company", "Bhoot", "GangaaJal", "Khakee", "Masti", "Yuva", "Apaharan" and "Omkara".

Meanwhile, wife Kajol was busy with home and daughter Nysa.

Before "Raju Chacha", the couple were seen in hits like "Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha" and "Ishq". They also paired up for "Dil Kya Kare", "Gundaraj" and "Hulchul".

We kept receiving a lot of emails from fans wanting to know more about his forthcoming films and various other details. This way, Ajay can answer all their queries.

An important facet about this website is that it will provide all the necessary and true information about him and his projects as against what is usually speculated upon, on the Internet.”

Ajay Devgan's multiple projects in 2007

http://utopianvision.co.uk/images/bollywood/stars/ajay-devgan.jpg
Ajay Devgan would look back at 2006 with pride. While he had a hit in the form of GOLMAAL, he also enjoyed good critical acclaim and moderate success in OMKARA where he played the title role.

Though it has been over 6 months since a new film of his came, he has multiple projects lined up for release in 2007 with an even spread throughout the year.

First to come would be Anubhav Sinha's action film CASH which is being readied for an April release. During the same time, Rajkumar Santoshi's HALLA BOL is also expected to arrive.

If Sanjay Dutt's court proceedings turn favorable, 2007 would see the two actors pair up for MR. FRAUD and BEEHAD. Cherry on the top of the cake comes later this year when he would be seen enacting the dream role of Jai in RAM GOPAL VERMA KI SHOLAY!

Truly, the man has a lot to look forward to in this year!

Ajay woos Vidya Balan in Haji Ali

STARRY DAY: Ajay and Vidya were at Haji Ali to shoot for a song sequence for Halla Bol.
Haji Ali Dargah in Mumbai is a monument of faith that is crowded with people all year round.

But when Ajay Devgan and Vidya Balan came to shoot Rajkumar Santoshi's Halla Bol, the crowd gathered at the spot to catch a glimpse of their favourite star.

But what brought the team to Haji Ali?

“We are shooting for a portion of a song that comes in the pre-climax of the movie at Haji Ali,” Vidya Balan said.

Halla Bol is one of the few films that has attempted to explore the underbelly of Bollywood.

“My character is that of a struggling actor, who becomes a star and gets corrupted because of power and money. But something happens in his life that compels him to fight the truth and how he comes back to what he was,” says Ajay Devgan.

Sabri Brothers, famous for their sufi music and qawaali have been invited from Pakistan to add that flavour of authenticity to this scene.

After the debacle of Family, Halla Bol is an important film for Santoshi, who's made his mark with films like Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak.

Arshad, Ajay to star in Golmaal sequel

Golmaal, Ajay Devgan, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi, Paresh Rawal, Rimi Sen, Sushmita Mukherjee, Mukesh Tiwari, Sanjay Mishra, Manoj Joshi, Vrajesh Hirjee, Anupam Shyam, Farid Amiri

If something works once, chances are it will work again goes the mantra in tinsel town. And so Ajay Devgan and Arshad Warsi have teamed up with Rohit Shetty once again.

Kumar Mangat is producing Shetty’s next film with the two actors. “Ajay will certainly feature in the film,” Shetty had said after bagging the film, adding, “It will be a multi-starrer comedy and after scripting, we will start casting for the other roles.” Even Mangat wanted Devgan in his next film, after he produced Omkara with director Vishal Bharadwaj.

On Warsi’s inclusion into the project, Mangat said, “Arshad has liked the script and is willing to do the film. But things can be confirmed only after the dates are worked out. 99 per cent, he is on.”

Interestingly, there were some problems between the two actors after the first spell of Golmaal in Goa in 2005. Apparently, Warsi wanted Devgan to support him in his film, the Raj Kaushal-directed Anthony Kaun Hai?

But Devgan couldn’t as he was shooting for Mangat’s Omkara around the same time. As a result, Warsi dilly-dallied dates for Golmaal. But all’s well after it became a hit and they will work together again.

Mangat is planning to start shooting by February-end.

Warsi, who’s heading to London for the shooting of UTV’s Goal with John Abraham and Bipasha Basu, is expected to be back in time for Mangat’s film. Apart from the two actors, the makers are also yet to finalise casting for the rest of the roles.

“By the end of this week, I should be able to confirm one more hero and the heroine of the film, which will also feature known character actors,” says Mangat.

Ajay to direct a film with Kajol

Ajay Devgan, who is all set to play Veeru in RGV’s Sholay, is now going to direct a romantic film Main Tum Aur Hum.

The film will star himself and opposite him will be his wife, Kajol. Ajay and Kajol have done a number of films together which include Dil Kya Kare, Ishq, Pyar Toh Hona Hi Tha and the relative fiasco Raju Chacha. Main Tum Aur Hum is based on a story written by Ajay Devgan himself. Ajay has roped in cinematographer Aseem Prakash Bajaj (who shot with him in Zameen and Golmaal) for his directorial debut. According to Aseem, the plot will is very touching and romantic. It talks about love, commitment, and the institution of marriage, something that Ajay-Kajol will easily be able to identify with.

As sources have it, Ajay hopes to restore his production house in a big way with this film, which showcases his direction and acting talents with his wife.

Main Tum Aur Hum will go on floors in the month of April next year.

Ajay Devgan gets grand welcome at Karachi

The craze for Indian films and filmstars in Pakistan was evident after the grand welcome that actor Ajay Devgan got at Karachi yesterday. Ajay went to Karachi for the Kara Film Festival where Omkara was screened. Also present at the event were Vishal Bhardwaj, the director of Omkara and Kumar Mangat, the producer of the film and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.

According to Mahesh Bhatt, the welcome they got was overwhelming. The entire crew was showered with rose petals. The excitement that people had for the film and the Indian filmstar was so much that the generally introvert Ajay Devgan also got emotional. He in fact said that if they don’t stop this, he will go mad. Also, the film got a brilliant response. After the screening, a press conference was held where Ajay Devgan and Vishal Bhardwaj answered questions related to the film.
