Salman will leave the audience in splits on KBC finale

After enthralling viewers across the country with Fifty Two entertaining episodes of quizzing, the time has come for season one of Kaun Banega Crorepati with SRK to bid adieu. But not just like that! The Badshah of Bollywood in his trademark style is all set to entertain viewers with an exciting, one of a kind, fun-filled episode of KBC. The grand finale episode of KBC will see the leading ladies of the silver screen Kareena Kapoor with Priyanka Chopra and the hottest pair of tinsel town, Salman Khan with Katrina Kaif when they come together on television for the first time ever on a game show.

After the movie Don, this is SRK's first tryst with Kareena and Priyanka together. Priyanka Chopra on her experience in KBC said, "KBC was a fantastic experience and I enjoyed myself to the hilt. Sitting across Shahrukh can be quite nerve wrecking, but he completely put me at ease. In fact he was completely driven up the wall because Kareena and I would keep debating which answer to opt for and always came up with different options. The fun was complete with Salman and Katrina on the show, where all of us did the last segment together."
If word is to believed then Salman will leave the audiences rolling in splits of laughter with his wit and wacky humor. The episode also has Priyanka exercising her vocal chords and belting out melodies that will leave audiences speechless.

Kareena will donate her prize money to St. Anthony's Old Age Home and Mount Mary's Bandra, and Priyanka will contribute her prize money to Nari and the Utkal Bipanaa Sahayata Samiti. Katrina will donate her prize-money to the Kovalam Charitable Trust and Salman will donate his money for his soon to be opened Salman Khan Foundation.

KBC: SRK will be back after a break

KBC ON A BREAK: King Khan says Kaun Banega Crorepati has been his window to reality.
The flurry of questions will stop at least for now as the sometimes controversial season one of Kaun Banega Crorepati with King Khan as host goes on a break.

After giving massages to tense contestants to expensive Tag Hauer watches to those losing on the hot seat to cars to all, the magnamous Shah Rukh Khan will miss playing dost (friend) to the contestants and mouthing those one-liners.

"I will miss saying kachha-pakka (sure or not). I will miss saying 'let's play Kaun Banega Crorepati'," says he.

The show has also been SRK's window to some reality - at least that's what he claims.

"Because of the show, I met so many people. I got in touch with reality and because of that my acting will become better," says King Khan.

SRK's duties as KBC host invited contant comparisons to previous host Amitabh Bachchan and the TRPs of the show fell dramatically. Despite this, the host dost will be back for the second season of KBC soon - or at least that's what he is hoping for.

Sanju sees Bapu on KBC

Kaun Banega Crorepati, next special celebrity episode with feature Bollywood’s blockbuster hit flick – ‘Munnabhai’ comic pair – Sanjay Dutt & Boman Irani.

Making way to Gandhigiri on KBC both Sanjay & Boman will dash the spirit of goodness as practiced in their movie Munnabhai. In their riveting humor and ishtyle, the perfect pair of two intense & multi-faceted actors will get on with the game, as the star host- SRK, warmly welcomes them to celebrate the Gandhi’s dictum ‘Kar bhala toh ho bhala’, inviting them to play for a noble cause!

As the show proceeds with a comical sidekick, Sanjay tries out some of his popular Munnabhai frolics- playing along, he once tries to slide an earphone in jest to aid him with an answer, while he is caught by Boman & SRK! Sometimes even consulting Bapu (the famous imaginary character of Munnabhai-2) whom, only he can see & hear, to guide him to the correct answers.

All the three master pranksters (SRK, Sanjay & Boman) pull a fast one on Arshad Warsi (aka Circuit, the trusted aide of Munna Bhai), when they call him to tell that he is on their Phone-A-Friend helpline as they are stuck on the big- 2 crore question! Arshad, caught completely off-guard becomes numb and topples over to just guess an answer, of the hard-hitting question.

SRK surprises the audiences, as he tells them about Sanjay’s hidden talent of ‘air guitaring’ and requests him to demonstrate a small piece of his skill on the show. Shah Rukh playing the perfect host & dost also, requests Boman to sing the International popular number – "We Are The World" that had originally been sung by various artistes. At this Boman leaves everyone jaw dropped as he actually modulates his voice singing & mimicking all the original singers!

The episode will air on March 29 on Star Plus.

SRK gifts Santros to KBC contestants

Probably inspired from the Oprah Winfrey show, Shah Rukh Khan and the producers of KBC handed out 9 cars to the contestants of the show. The lucky nine were the ones who were selected for the fastest finger first round but who could not make it to the hot seat.

As SRK is the brand ambassador of Hyundai Santro, it was probably the most likely car to be given out. It may be recalled that Oprah Winfrey gave away 276 Pontiac G-6 midsize 2005 sports sedans in 2004 to all the members of her audience present at the studio.

Though Shah Rukh tags the episode as nothing special, he went onto say that they did want to do something as the season was going to end.

Shah Rukh and Sanjay Dutt bond on KBC

After Rani and Preity guess who is going to be on the hot seat with Shah Rukh? Yes it’s none other than our very own Munnabhai!

Sanjay Dutt who is an avid watcher of Shah Rukh’s show will be seen donning a new avtar, that of a contestant on KBC. Sanjay along with Boman Irani recently shot for an episode for KBC along with Shah Rukh Khan in Film City.

It is said that Dutt is so much in awe of Shah Rukh that after watching his antics on the show he messaged the new quizmaster to tell him how much he loved the show. Shah Rukh spontaneously messaged him back thanking him.

Well seems like KBC has not only helped Shah Rukh enhance his image but has also helped create a bond of long lasting friendship with Dutt.

KBC contestant protests outside SRK's house?

Once again SRK shoots his mouth off against the Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh at a recent award function.

Shah Rukh was heard commenting that “Amar Singh ki aakhon mein darindapan dikhai de raha hai. Arrey yeh maine kya keh diya...” Soon after which SRK laughed off his remarks by quickly adding “I am demented”.

But unfortunately his quick regret didn’t help much and lead to harsh consequences with the SP activists staging a morcha in front of the actor’s residence Mannat in Bandra yesterday. The morcha lasted only for 10 minutes and was disrupted by the police. Shah Rukh was not at home when the incident occurred.

One of the activists protesting against Khan proclaimed that what Shah Rukh had done was wrong and that he had humiliated their leader and that Amar Singh was also invited to the function and SRK shouldn’t have commented in this manner.

But the interesting twist to this story is that when the police caught hold of 50 odd activists, one of the detainees claimed that they were paid to protest against Shah Rukh by one Mr Yadav, a contestant on KBC last week, who had a minor brawl with the King Khan over a question on Ambedkar.

SRK turned down KBC2

If Kaun Banega Crorepati 3 took the Amitabh Bachchan-Shah Rukh Khan war a step forward with all the rush and scramble of comparisons, now we know that the big time rivalry for small screen space between the two actually started two years ago.

It's finally out, straight from the horse's mouth. Shah Rukh Khan, as part of his interview with the Mumbai Mirror, has revealed that he was offered Kaun Banega Crorepati 2 as well, but he politely turned it down because Amitabh Bachchan wanted to do it, then.

In SRK's own words: "When they offered me KBC3, I said I will only do it if Mr Bachchan says 'no'. After they said he had declined to do it, I asked to see a letter from him confirming this. Only after that, did I agree to do it. In fact, I had earlier said 'no' to both Zee and Star. Two years ago, Star offered me KBC2, and I asked them if Mr Bachchan wanted to do it. And they said yes. So I backed off. And Samir Nair (Star's CEO) knows this."

When asked why does it matter so much to him that Big B first has to say no to KBC for him to consider doing it, King Khan states matter-of-factly, "Because it's a product which started with him. If there was even an iota of doubt that he wanted to do it, I wouldn't do it. Even when I did Darr, I first asked Aamir Khan if it was okay with him if I did it, after he had left it. Similarly with Josh, I called up Salman Khan and asked. It's mere courtesy." So now we know. Star had wanted SRK to be the KBC host as far back as two years ago.

Karan Johar to be the first Celeb guest on KBC

http://in.rediff.com/movies/2003/oct/31karan1.jpg
We all know that Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar are good friends and when Karan invited Shah Rukh to be the guest on his show Koffee with Karan, Shah Rukh decided to return the favor by inviting Karan to be the first celebrity contestant on Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Karan Johar will be playing the game along with their common friend, Farah Khan. This episode will be shot today and it is reportedly going to be telecasted on February 11 as a Friendship Special episode.

Karan Johar says that he is not prepared for it and will just go on the sets and play. This will be the first time that Karan will appear on KBC as participant. Last time he was seen among the audience supporting his friend Shah Rukh when King Khan participated as a contestant on the same show which was then hosted by Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.

Besides, Karan and Farah, the other celebs who will be appearing on KBC include Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar for Brother-Sister Special and Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan for Valentine’s Day Special.

SRK Rocks as KBC Host

“King to sirf main hi hoon,” echoed SRK in his characteristic style as a contestant struggled to answer a question. The audience poll followed and the right answer was ‘queen’ for the game of carom. Hmmm…The verdict is loud-n-clear. King Khan has dissipated humungous speculation about his take-over as the host of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. And yes, not only is he a charming new dost-cum-host, the irrepressible Khan is one up on Amitabh Bachchan because of his wonderful camaraderie with the contestants, ready wit, great sense of humour (many a time at his own expense) and his gamble of being drastically different from Big B, works big time too. And Computerji has now become Compaq da, Compaq Guru or Mr Computer….And for Lock Kiya Jaye…Just look for ‘Freeze Kar Den’…The New KBC is hip, happening and fun…

At the stroke of nine yesterday, SRK kick-started this edition of KBC with a rap-pop number where he said tongue-in-cheek: ‘Mere Angne Mein Tumhara Kya Kaam Hai’.

The song tries to be cool but the tune could have been better. At the outset itself, he makes it clear that he would be speaking in a language that people are more familiar with thus thwarting the Shudh Hindi of its predecessor. SRK starts off question-baazi with the rollover contestant of KBC 2, Prasanjit Sarkar from Kolkata. He gelled with his wife, dished out a Bengali poem, wrote a check for him and also said that “I am so used to signing autographs that I was about to write Luv-Shahrukh….My wife is a strong woman, she doesn’t allow me to do things like writing cheques….”

For first fifteen minutes or so it seemed as if SRK is trying a bit too hard. But then he grew in confidence. “Don’t say I want to quit, just say….Shahrukh I want to hug you….Main aapko gale lagana chahta hoon…..” And the hug was warm. Genuine-n-prompt! And in this first big opportunity of getting to know the real India after his stardom, the Badshah’s interaction was live wire. It was as if he knew Rama Gugila from Khammam (the next contestant) for ages. “Can I call you Gugy….or is Gugs more cool….what do you say man…”

When the comparisons between new and old ‘Don’ happened a few months ago, SRK overwhelmingly came a close second to Amitabh Bachchan’s earlier avatar. Somewhat similar results were expected in KBC too. But no….a cool SRK outsmarts a gentlemanly Senior Citizen Mr Bachchan. If the first episode is anything to go by, then Shahrukh Khan’s brand value is going to skyrocket as KBC gains more episode strengths. For the time being….You can “Freeze That”.

KBC kicks off with King Khan today

http://www.gulf-times.com/mritems/images/2006/12/4/2_120831_1_248.jpg
It is the D Day today for Shahrukh Khan. The Baadshah of Bollywood is all set to begin his second innings on television with Kaun Banega Carorepati (KBC).

KBC, India's most-watched television show will go on air from today (Jan 22, 2007) which was stopped due to Big B's illness. As Amitabh Bachchan denied to host the show further, Shahrukh slipped into the hot seat. But the question arises, whether King Khan will be able to carry the same magic created by Big B or not.

Having got into the Big B's shoes, Khan says, "I am very exited and thrilled. It is like coming back home as I am back to television. I promise to all my audiences that I will try to deliver my best according to my capabilities."

The show will start with the roll-over contest Prasenjit Sarkar. As Shah Rukh pops his first question at 9 PM today, it will be revealed to the audiences whether King Khan lives up to the comparison with Big B or not.

SRK's first Hip-Hop music video for KBC

We all know that SRK is working very hard for his television game show Kaun Banega Crorepati and he is not leaving any stones unturned for marketing it well. Few weeks back there were pictures in media showing SRK practicing for the show with a replica of KBC set built in his office. And now, the latest promotional move is the KBC music video. Yes, Shah Rukh is currently shooting a music video for his show Kaun Banega Crorepati. The video is conceptualised, directed, choreographed & sung by Ganesh Hegde, who had choreographed the song ‘Main Hoon Don’. In the video, SRK is dressed in a red velvet jacket and the KBC symbolic ‘Question Marks’ can be seen reflecting on his shades.

The ‘Kar le kar le tu ek sawaal’ is written by Shabbir, RD Telang, Kumar & Asif Baig and music is by Vishal-Shekhar. This will be the first time that SRK will be seen in a Hip-Hop style video. It is a 3 minute 40 sec video which will be released on Jan 22, the day when KBC hits the television. The 10-15 secs teasers will however be aired before that.

SRK’s 2nd KBC Promo to start airing tonite

Star Plus will air the 2nd KBC-SRK promo tonite i.e. January 11, 2007. In a nutshell the promo highlights that the importance of asking the right questions to get the right answers that can change your / one's life tuning into the telecast date of KBC-Jan 22nd, 9 p.m.

The script is as follows.

ShahRukh Khan to camera:

Meri kismat itni kharaab kyun hai?

Aisa mere saath hee kyun hota hai?

Ye system kab badlega?

Ye desh kab sudhrega?

Bhagwaan kuchh karta kyun nahi?

Hum har waqt, khud se, duniya se, bhagvaan se, Koi na koi jawaab mangte rahte hain.

Ye soch ke ki ek na ek din jawaab milega, Aur saari uljhane door ho jaayengi.

Poori umar beet jaati hai inn jawaabon ko dhoondhne mein.

Kabhi sahi jawaab miltey hain, kabhi galat.

Par hum dhondhtey rahtey hain!

Ek jawaab ke baad doosra, phir teesra, phir….(sighs)

Hum ye nahi samajhtey ki har sahi jawaab ke liye sabse zaroori hai toh bus

Ek sahi sawaal.

Kyunki ek sahi sawaal aap ki zindagi badal sakta hai.

Ab aap poochenge ki, " Woh kaunsa sawaal hai jo hamari zindagi badal sakta hai?"

Jaanne ke liye aap chaahein toh poori duniya dhoondh saktey hain Ya phir… …yahaan aa saktey hain!! (SRK is sitting on the anchor's Hot Seat, pointing at the participant's empty Hot Seat.)

KBC's signature tune plays aloud as the set lights switch on.

Kuchh sawaal zindagi badal saktey hain.

SRK’s KBC buzz is hotting up…Check out more excitement from today onwards.

Shah Rukh can't wait to occupy 'KBC' hot seat

View SRK 'Dons' KBC Avtaar - Picture GalleryUnfazed by comparisons to Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan is busy rehearsing for "Kaun Banega Crorepati" (KBC) and basking in the buzz created by the promos.

The stage is set for the third innings of STAR Plus's KBC, which is to go on air Jan 22. Shah Rukh is all set to win the audiences over if the warm ad campaign is any indication.

"Shah Rukh is a general knowledge freak and I am a general knowledge fan too. I am eagerly waiting for the show to go on air. Comparisons are unfounded because Shah Rukh has his own style and he will do it in his own way," Nikhil Advani, who directed the star in "Kal Ho Naa Ho", told.

Shah Rukh's determination to win had him put up mock sets of the KBC show at his home - Mannat - so that he could practise. He reportedly rehearses five hours daily with friends like Karan Johar, Farah Khan and Ganesh Hegde.

According to a study by Hansa Research for Optimum Media Solutions, Amitabh is more popular as an anchor among all age groups and genders.

The research showed that 71 percent of those who participated in the poll are willing to give the programme an initial try while eight percent will not watch it at all and 21 percent will watch all episodes.

"Shah Rukh is a phenomenal guy and he is not going to play any role on this show. He is going to be what he is, a very down to earth, humble guy. He will be extremely charming and people are going to have more lighter moments on the show because he is determined to make them happy," said Sagar Mahabaleshwarkar, the creative director of O&M, which conceptualised the promos.

The research explored host preference, interest in programme, changes expected by viewers, reaction time, competitive slots and implication for advertisers. As expected Shah Rukh has more takers among women and younger audiences.

Download Shahrukh Khan Wallpapers"I am getting more calls from female journalists. This shows his popularity among women. I am not a diehard Shah Rukh fan, but I have seen him rehearsing for the show and have changed my opinion about him. He is vibrant, hardworking and extremely energetic. I am confident that he will be able pull it off very well," added Mahabaleshwarkar.

The format of the game show will stay with minor changes - the set has been changed and the background will be red.

"Bachchan is like a sky for us that's why the colour was blue but main is desh ka lal hoon (I am this country's darling) so the colour is red," explains Shah Rukh.

Even though KBC will coincide with the World Cup, the response from sponsors was overwhelming. According to media reports, KBC has raked in over Rs.1 billion for its third innings.

Paritosh Joshi, president - sales and distribution - of STAR India, said: "We at STAR do not comment on revenue and we have not bothered to confirm or deny the reports. But I will say that we have done exceedingly well and have earned handsome revenue from the show.

"But the fact is that we didn't negotiate very hard because the client's interest was very, very high."

Joshi also said that cricket poses no threat to KBC.

"Cricket is a game of glorious uncertainty and the advertisers don't get the value for money that is promised. But KBC is a unique show, which has a universal appeal because we are a knowledge-conscious society. It is a truly family-viewing show and the risk is factor is not so high," he added.

Download Shahrukh Khan WallpapersLast year's sponsors Airtel, Hyundai and Cadbury are joined by new players Pantaloon Retail (Big Bazaar), Godrej Sara Lee, UTI Mutual Fund, Videocon, Godrej Sara Lee, Jyothi Lab, and the UB Group. Replacing Nokia is Motorola this time.

However, two decisions are yet to be made - the bank issuing the cheques and a replacement for the famous "Lenovo" computer.
