Sameera’s tough new avtaar

Her last few films might have bombed badly at the box office, but Sameera Reddy is hardly perturbed.

Putting aside expectations from any of her other forthcoming big releases like Race, she is now looking forward the most to the release of Mira Nair's short film on AIDS, where she plays a victim of the disease.

"The film is called Migration, and Irfan Khan, Shiney Ahuja and I play the main characters," says Sameera. "I have been a part of many big banner movies, but I have come to realise that such meaningful storylines matter more than anything else."

The character in the film, she insists, is one of her most significant roles till date.

"My character in the film experiences some of the most unusual relationships that help her cope with the disease. The film asserts the fact that AIDS is a disease that can penetrate into any sections of society, irrespective of the economic strata you belong to. It clears many misconceptions and throws light on issues surrounding the disease that confront people in their everyday lives," she explains.

Migration is due for release in August with three other films on AIDS by Farhan Akhtar, Vishal Bharadwaj and Santosh Sivan.

Sameera Reddy: No more kissing scenes?

She’s already acquired the image of a daring actress, but ask Sameera Reddy whether she is open to such scenes as her kissing scene with Anil Kapoor in Musafir, and she immediately denies it. The actress claims that that was one of the most difficult scenes she’s done till date and she may never do it again. Now wonder how Anil is going to take it? Is he happy to be the only guy Sexy Sam kissed on screen, or is he going to think he’s a really bad kisser – just kidding, Anil. Refer to Sam for further details!
