Anil Kapoor to host a T.V. show

Anil Kapoor donned the hat of a successful producer with his critically acclaimed film - Gandhi My Father - last year.

The versatile actor even got all the ceetis and taalis, for his smashing performance - as the lovable Majnu Bhai - in the smash hit, Welcome.

This year Anil has decided to do something which he probably hasn't done before!

The actor would be seen hosting a quiz show on television, thereby following the footsteps of some of his other colleagues like Big B, SRK and Govinda, who have hosted T.V. shows in the past.

The format of the show - still kept under wraps - would be based on an American show, and would be similar to the hugely popular Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC).

Stay tuned in!

Anil Kapoor is Quizmaster in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire

Anil Kapoor has been cast as the Quizmaster in Danny Boyle 's Slumdog Millionaire - a British movie based on Vikas Swarup's book Q&A - after both Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan turned down the role.

"Danny was in Mumbai scouting for a location to film the movie. But things didn't work out with either SRK or the Big B and so now Anil will be playing the role. An announcement should come soon," says a source.

The source adds that Kapoor and Boyle have had quite a few closed door meetings.

"Everything has been very hush hush. Things are being kept under a wrap. The set is being constructed and Danny is putting the final touches to the script. The initial filming has already begun. They don't want to disclose much and therefore are keeping everything very quiet and closed from the public. The film has generated a lot of interest in the West."

Danny Boyle has delivered superhits such as Trainspotting, Millions, 28 Days Later and The Beach.

Will Smith impressed with Anil Kapoor's Gandhi

With Gandhiji's Gandhigiri being a rage across the globe, could Hollywood be far behind? No.

And one actor who's completely bowled over by Gandhi's philosophies is none other than Hollywood superstar Will Smith. That's what Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor found out recently.

It happened when Anil recently arranged a private screening of his ambitious venture Gandhi My Father, that incidentally marks his debut as a producer. Though absolutely no one from either Anil's family or the industry has even seen a still of this flick, Hollywood hottie Smith was among the privileged few who saw some portions of the film at a Hollywood screening held to attract overseas distributors.

An insider reveals, "Will was very impressed with the canvas of the film and the emotional intensity of the actors. But the most surprising factor was that Smith was very knowledgeable about Gandhi and his ideas. He told Anil that he had also seen Richard Attenborough's version and that he really believed in Gandhi. He also said that he found him very inspiring. This left Anil both surprised and proud."

When contacted, Anil confirmed the news and revealed that he was quite surprised to find out how much Smith knew about Gandhiji. He said, "We have kept the film completely under wraps for certain reasons. And I was pleasantly surprised to know that Smith actually knew quite a lot about Gandhiji. He holds Gandhi in high regard."

Big B's advice for Anil Kapoor

There is no getting away from Amitabh Bachchan’s style statements.

Whether it is a pink coat, innumerable rings on his fingers or his French beard. From critics to fans to interviewers, everybody has commented on the last and got various results. Recently, it was the turn of Anil Kapoor to have his say. But in his defence, we must say, that Big B started it all himself at an event in the city this time.

It was
during a news conference for International Indian Film Academy awards on the outskirts of New Delhi where it all started with Anil Kapoor saying he never goes to award functions because he never gets any awards. To this, Amitabh, a veteran of many a honour, quipped, "Well, I guess Anil should change the colour of his French beard to rectify this!".

Anil
had this response to this advice from his senior: "I think my beard is giving Mr Bachchan a complex. I have always majorly experimented with my looks. I have also kept a goatee and Mr Bachchan never went close to that. But one thing I haven’t done - I haven’t kept black hair with white French beard." All said in jest, let us assure you!

But it wasn’t all lighthearted banter, there was serious stuff discussed too. Topmost on their minds was global warming. A recent study that said there are just eight years left to go before global warming will change the earth drastically had set Big B thinking. "We just have eight years left and this is very less time," he said, adding, "We all can make a difference by doing our little bit. Like switching off the electric bulb when not using it, not charging the mobile for too long and not leaving the television on the standby mode. The pace at which India is progressing, we will soon reach where the US and China are today. And they are most affected by global warming."

Anil, meanwhile, had a filmi perspective on it. "I recently watched Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth, which is based on this issue, and I am completely shaken up by it. Not many in India have the complete knowledge about global warming and it will take ages for us to be fully equipped to handle something like this. With a growing economy, it is going to get worse. I must point out that international celebrities are more dedicated to such causes than us. I have met Kevin Costner, Goldie Hawn and Will Smith. I have found them more knowledgeable and more dedicated," he says.
