Saif Ali Khan's advice to his fans: Practice safe sex!

Saif Ali Khan didn't just play the guitar along with rock band Parikrama, but also delighted fans by taking to the microphone, at the crowded Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai recently.

The actor dished out covers of popular international artistes along with lead vocalist Nitin Malik, lead guitarist Sonam Sherpa and the rest of the Parikrama band.

He played Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple, that he said, got him to play the electric guitar. Also on his play list were AC/DC's Highway to Hell and Pink Floyd's Run Like Hell.

Seated amidst the crowd was Saif's daughter, to whom he dedicated Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode.

Malik and Saif also sang AC/DC's Whole Lotta Rosie and The Doors' Roadhouse Blues.

Earlier in the evening, Pakistani band Strings took centre stage.

They dished out numbers like Aakhri Alvida off their newly acquired Gibson 500 guitar. They also doled out a Bollywood medley that had the crowd grooving.

The enthralling evening came to an end with these last words from Saif: "God bless you all, take care and have safe sex!"

The trio's next performance is in Kolkata - Jan 25 and New Delhi - Jan 27.

Saif Ali Khan gets Kareena Kapoor tattooed over!

As a tribute to his three-month-old girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, the suave actor has now tattooed her name on his left forearm!

Saif has apparently been planning to get the tattoo for last couple of weeks. He has been browsing through various calligraphic styles to finalize the shape of the tattoo.

Saif ready to do more ramp-walks

Saif Ali Khan says that walk on the ramp was a great experience and he wouldn't mind doing it again.

"It was certainly not one of the toughest things I've done. It was good fun, just doing something I had never done before," Saif said. "The lighting was fantastic and my entry was terrific, thanks to Meher Jessia's (former Miss India, supermodel and wife of actor Arjun Rampal) planning. The rest was just a cakewalk for me. I just had to take a stroll, that's all. And the music was great," he added.
Friends Meher and Arjun, who invited Saif to walk the ramp, made the job easier.

"Arjun chose some great tracks for me. And that really added to my comfort level on the ramp. It's amazing what the right ambience can do to your spirit. Arjun helped out a lot but it was Meher's show all the way."

Saif's ex-cellent arrangement!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/films/bollywood/2005/02/images/pop_up_bollywood_charity_concert_10.jpg
Saif Ali Khan has bought a house for former girlfriend Rosa (Ex ho toh aisa!)

The latest from the Saif-Rosa progress report (er...it does appear to be that) is that the actor has gifted his former live-in girlfriend a new flat in Andheri (West).

We hear that Saif is helping Rosa to settle down in the city for her second innings here (as a single professional). However, the problem is that Rosa is not really facing a deluge of offers. So far, she has just grabbed a chat show that revolves around fashion and lifestyle.

A source close to Rosa says, "Yes, Saif has bought her a new apartment and is helping her out. She is not quite acquainted with the ways of the city and didn't mind when Saif lent her a helping hand."

However, this does not mean that the two are getting together again. She continues to feel disgruntled about their break-up. In fact, Rosa has been telling her friends that Saif walked out on her. But why should that prevent her from accepting his help?

When quizzed about the latest turn of events, Rosa simply said, "Yes, I have moved into a new apartment at Andheri (West). Beyond that, I don't want to answer any questions related to Saif. I'm on my own now."

Saif's friends explain that the actor is helping Rosa out of sheer respect for what they once shared together. A source informs, "Saif is just a good-natured guy. He is helping his former girlfriend. But they're not getting back together."

Saif bounces back with prestigious projects

Parineeta press conference at IIFA, Missing Rosa? Saif looks disinterested
While Saif Ali Khan is back after a long illness and has restarted his work with an ad campaign for Provogue last week, he has also said yes to a number of projects after a long break.

"Yes, I've green-lighted Kunal Kohli's new film," said Saif who flies to Dubai to shoot for Abbas-Mastan's "Race".

"I've known him for some time now. And we share a cool comfort level. I really thought Kunal did a neat job in 'Hum Tum'. So, yeah, I'm looking forward to working with him again," Saif said.

He has also said yes to two other projects. One is a Yash Raj Films project featuring Kareena Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Akshay Kumar. "Again, it's very script-driven. As for the project with Karan Johar (to be directed by his assistant Tarun Talsukhani), I've said yes to it in principle. Who'd say no to a Karan Johar film? But I've to yet hear the script."

Does the presence of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in it pose a problem?

"None at all. I've been in so many films with very major co-stars. I mean I shared screen space with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan in 'Eklavya'. I didn't allow myself to be awed by him. That never works in a film or in my performance."

About the newly formed friendship with Salman Khan, Saif admits the senior actor has been guiding him to take up painting. "So far I've done just one sketch. Salman is really good with it. You should see his work. He did ask me to give it a try. And I did."

Smoky logic, eh Saif?

Saif Ali Khan made hotel authorities in California install a window in his room because he wanted to smoke indoors. (Is mom Sharmila reading this?)

Saif Ali Khan, who was recently hospitalised with heart complications at the Lilavati Hospital, did take his cigarette breaks rather seriously, if this story is anything to go by.

Flashback to the pre-Lilavati days, to the shoot of Siddharth Anand's Ta Ra Rum Pum. The actor was staying in a plush hotel in Rockingham in North Carolina, during the shoot. However, during his chain-smoking sessions in his room, the actor realised that the room did not have a single window. So the star that he is, Saif had the glass pane replaced with a window so that he could simply open the window and smoke.

According to a source: "The room in which Saif was staying had sealed glass panes but he wanted windows which he could open. He started feeling claustrophobic inside the hotel room. So, he requested the hotel management to install a window which he would be able to open. In fact, none of the rooms in that hotel had windows which could be opened. But Saif agreed to bear all the expenses of replacing the glass pane with a window and the hotel authority agreed." In the film, produced by Yashraj Films, Saif plays the role of a car racer in the film for the first time. Incidentally, this is his second venture with Siddharth Anand.

When asked about his smoky escapade in America, the actor does admit to throwing a fit and getting a window changed. In his words, "I was smoking cigarettes those days and after shooting in that kind of claustrophobic heat, I just couldn't handle the rooms so I got them to make me a window. It was quite sweet of them to do so."

But why didn't he change the hotel instead of getting window installed. "I was checked into a hotel in Rockingham in North Carolina which was on highway and I was in the middle of nowhere, opposite a cemetery. It didn't have any windows in the rooms. It was close to the shooting zone. So I guess they went ahead with the hotel. I had no problem with my accommodation except the window," Saif adds.

It seems that Saif himself accompanied the hotel guys to buy a window and got it installed. "I had to go to Walmart which was the only shop down the road and buy a window and get it installed. It was in fact so starry that they now call it the 'Presidential Suite' because it's got a window that opens!" he laughs.

We're hoping mom Sharmila Tagore isn't reading this. Obviously, she won't be amused.

'Agent Vinod'

Is Saif Ali Khan starting his production house? There have been various reports on this front, one of them stating that his first project will be called AGENT VINOD and would be directed by Sriram Raghavan. “We are still working on an idea,” Sriram clarifies, “It’s in the nascent stages right now.”

Is AGENT VINOD a remake of the successful Mahendra Sandhu starrer of the 1970s? “Frankly, that’s one of the titles we are considering for our film. Both Saif and I are in love with it [the title]. It’s a realistic, action film. It’s the kind of cinema that worked beautifully in the 1970s. However, the content is not remotely similar to the Mahendra Sandhu starrer,” Sriram clarifies.

When is Saif planning to start the film? “Look, we’re still discussing various scripts. We haven’t locked anything yet. It’s going to take time,” he adds.

Saif discharged from hospital

/photo.cms?msid=1679909
Actor Saif Ali Khan was discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai today, a week after he was hospitalized after he complained of chest pain.

The 36-year-old actor was rehearsing a dance number to be performed at the Stardust Film Awards 2007 when he had to be rushed to the hospital. His cardiac health was found to be fine and the chest aches were said to be related to stress and rigorous work schedules.

"I'm doing fine. The doctor has told me to stop smoking. I'll be back to work as soon as possible," said Saif on his way out of Lilavati Hospital.

Saif Rushed To Hospital - Chest Pains

Saif Rushed To Hospital - Chest PainsOn Sunday, Saif Ali Khan was admitted to Leelavati hospital in Mumbai after complaining of chest pain; he was admitted to ICU. While an angiography was conducted, Saif's sister, Soha, and other family members waited at the hospital. Many film stars and eminent film personalities attended Leelavati to see Saif.

Meanwhile Leelavati Hospital sources said Saif is out of danger, but kept him under supervision.

"It is nothing serious. It is only a precautionary measure that he has been admitted," said Director Sudheer Mishra.

Saif won Star Dust Award for best performance in a negative role for Omkara and was rehearsing for his performance at the awards function when the incident took place.

Recently, Saif quit smoking and joined an anti-tobacco campaign. In an effort to help him give up cigarettes, he has started drinking a lot of water.

He described smoking as disgusting and said it was "a killer." However, the star said he was unsure how long he would be able to stay away from cigarettes.

According to health experts, teenagers who watch films in which stars smoke are three times more likely to try smoking, and those whose favorite stars are seen to light up on screen are 16 times more likely to have a positive attitude regarding smoking.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) says tobacco claims 5 million lives a year. According to government statistics, more than 800,000 Indians die each year from smoking-related illnesses.

It's Saif's turn to go 'dhoom' in TRP

Tara Rum Pum, Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Shruti Seth

Saif-Rosa heading for splitsville?

If sources close to Saif Ali Khan and Rosa, his girlfriend of about two years, are to be believed, the couple are heading down splitsville. "This time the fights are really bad and they are having some serious problems," says a friend. "It doesn't look like the relationship will last for too long."

Saif and Rosa had made a commitment to appear together on Karan Johar's chat show, Koffee with Karan, long ago. That was obviously in rosier times. Since then, the relationship seems to have undergone a change. For, a few days ago, when Karan was all set to shoot the episode with Saif and Rosa, he received a call saying that the couple had changed their mind and would not be appearing together on the show.

The buzz goes that Saif will probably appear on the show by himself. The shooting, for the meantime, has been postponed.

Saif and Rosa went on a holiday to celebrate the coming of the New Year to Verbier, in Switzerland, along with Saif's children, Sara and Ibrahim. Reportedly, it is there that the two began having serious fights over various issues. Things only worsened after they returned. And, though they did attend an award function together last Saturday, speculations are rife that they are on the verge of a break-up.

The couple have had a history of fights, anyway. Once the cameras are switched off, they have often been seen fighting bitterly in public. Earlier in the year, they were reported to have had such a huge fight that Rosa was hospitalised soon after.

Meanwhile, friends say that Saif has suddenly become completely inaccessible to them. "It obviously points to the fact that they are having serious problems this time," says a friend. "He wants time alone to sort things out in his own mind."

Saif Ali Khan gets into Tom Hanks' shoes

Tom Hanks is certainly one of the all time great actors that the world has seen. And now Saif Ali Khan has bagged an opportunity to get into his shoes.

Saif is currently been seen in a leading laptop manufacturing commercial that has him modeled on the character of Tom Hanks in one of his most memorable films - 'Cast Away'.

The film had Hanks in the role of Chuck Noland who is a workaholic and gets stranded alone on a desert island after his plane crashes. Away from his loved one and his haywire lifestyle, he was forced to survive surrounded by the wild.

On the similar theme, the commercial shows Saif returning back to his home with a hairdo and overall appearance similar to that of Hanks in the film. When no one, not even his lady love, is able to recognize Saif, his final resort is his favorite laptop that welcomes him due to his face recognition software.

Truly an innovative advertising campaign!

Fitness freaks!

/photo.cms?msid=776242
FIT TO WIN: Saif Ali Khan looks on as Rosa accepts the trophy for winning the National Spinnathon Championship at Mumbai's Velocity pub on Sunday
Langda Tyagi - the man who people loved to hate in the critically acclaimed Omkara is quite a fitness freak in the real life.

Spotted at the National Spinnathon Championships supporting his lady love Rosa, actor Saif Ali Khan himself works hard on his fitness, which is evident from his bulging biceps.

"I think a certain amount of cardio is very important - running or spinning or any kind of cardio vascular exercise is good," says Saif.

Elaborating on his daily fitness regime, Saif informs, "Swimming for about an hour a day is wonderful and then about half an hour of weight resistance training - that's normally what I do for about hour and a half a day,"

As for the actor's love interest Rosa, she too did not disappoint going on to win the Spinnathon Championship.

However, when it comes down to fitness, Rosa has her own line of thinking quite different from her beau.

"It's not about just pumping muscles. It's about endurance, it's about power and it mostly starts in your mind," according to Rosa.

Well, the two may have very different takes on fitness but this is one celebrity couple that takes being fit very seriously.
