Urmila in remake of Karz for Simi Garewal's role

Urmila Matondkar will re-enact Simi Garewal's role of Kamini in the remake of Subash Ghai's Karz.

There were rumors recently that Sushmita Sen would play Garewal's role, but the producers clarified the same as just that.. baseless rumors!

Karz is Himesh Reshammiya's second film after Aap Kaa Surroor. He portrays Rishi Kapoor's role.

The film is directed by Satish Kaushik and the makers are yet to decide on who will play Tina Munim 's role in this modern version.

Urmila's Mehbooba song from RGV Ki Aag

As the buzz around Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag heats up, the latest promo of the film's version of the legendary Mehbooba Mehbooba has been added to it.

It's the song everyone's been waiting to watch.

The Mehbooba song from Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag has a different sound, with typical Ramu camera angles and of course, his magic formula, Urmila Matondkar.

"There's loads of chemistry and I will be giving away most of the song If I say more. But the chemistry exists between Babban and his Mehbooba," says Urmila.

For Urmila, matching steps with the legendary Helen from the classic and competing with the oomph factor of Mallika Sherawat in Himesh's new version may be a tough task. But she believes that both the composition as well as the choreography by Ganesh Hegde is so original, that the song stands out on its own.

"The song has been done keeping in mind a classic, and we have tried to adapt it to something totally new that will atleast be on par with the original," says Urmila.

We will be hoping that it does something like that, but as far as we can see, this one looks like yet another one of those item numbers rolled out of Ramu's factory!

Urmila gets injured while exercising

The lovely Urmila Matondkar is not socialising too much these days.

The reason for this is that she has injured her ankle and has been advised rest.

"I was trying out a form of exercise called spinning and I sprained my ankle badly," says the actress, adding, "Now I have to stay at home."

But she's far from being depressed - nothing can keep the Matondkar babe down, it seems. "The best thing about this is that all my friends are making it a point to visit me and I'm having a great time at home. So something good has come of it after all."

Interestingly, with that perfect body, one would think Urmila is quite into fitness.

Clears Urmila, "I've never been into exercising, and that is what my friends are teasing me about. In fact, Manish Malhotra (dress designer) actually joked that it's a sign from above that I shouldn't even attempt exercising."

With her next film Speed, co-starring Zayed Khan and Aftab Shivdasani, all set to release soon, let's wish the actress a speedy recovery!

Urmila shoots 'Mehbooba' song with Bachchans

After Aishwarya Rai in the chart-busting "Kajra re" number, it is Urmila's turn to share sizzling screen space with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan for the "Mehbooba" song in the new "Sholay".

Director Ram Gopal Varma canned the song for his "Sholay" in Karjat recently.

"It was like sharing an experience with two legends (Amitabh and Helen)," said Urmila.

"I've always been a huge fan of Helenji. I know all her dances by heart, 'Mehbooba' being my favourite. And of course, I'm a huge fan of Amitabhji. Though he didn't dance with me, Abhishek did. To have done the legendary song as a homage to two living legends is quite something," Urmila said.

Urmila elated over Pakistani reaction to ramp walk

View SPEED - On The Sets - Picture GalleryAfter acting and singing, Bollywood star Urmila Matondkar is trying her hand at modelling too. Her ramp show in Karachi last week for designer Manish Malhotra was a resounding success and the actress hasn't come out of that spell yet.

"I'm no stranger to fashion shows. But this was my first fashion show outside India. We decided not to go conventional. We opted to go Western and zany. I wore a Swarovski-studded white outfit and the reaction was awesome. The whistles and screams are still ringing in my ears. We raised quite a lot of money for charity."

Urmila has been to Pakistan several times.

"Every time I go there I find it an extremely heart-warming experience. The love and affection the Pakistanis shower on me makes me wonder where the mythic enmity comes from."

Urmila has been having a hectic time. She has just sung a song with singing legend Asha Bhosle and also worked on the schedule of the long-delayed film "Speed".

On her singing experience with Asha, Urmila says laughing: "I can't believe a bathroom singer like me actually dared to share singing space with Ashaji. Come on, she is a legend! I grew up singing her songs and dancing to them on stage. Suddenly, here I was matching vocals with Ashaji.

"In fact, I couldn't go to the Karachi film festival although two of my films were shown."

Urmila says she is in no hurry to sign any new film.

"I've reached a stage in my career where I don't really need to make any rushed decisions. I'm just taking it easy, at least till the year-end. I'll be taking off for an unknown destination for the New Year. Being in Mumbai and working is very boring for the New Year."

Urmila - Bollywood's new singing sensation!

View Urmila & Shiamak Team Up Picture GalleryUrmila Matondkar is thrilled to bits. She has just returned from shooting the video for a song that she has sung with the legendary Asha Bhosle for Shamir Tandon's album.

"I've always been one of Ashaji's biggest fans. We go back a long way. She has known me from when I was a child. She had sung in one of my Marathi films as a child actor called 'Sansar'. Then, of course, her husband R.D. Burman composed music for my 'Masoom'. The couple has seen me grow up,".

Urmila said it was a great experience.

"It was a complete riot. A tremendous experience. If I can sing, elephants can fly. To sing with someone so awesome... wow! Now I can call myself a rock star. After acting and dancing I'm now a singer. I now carry an invisible warning, 'Don't come near me. I'm a singer'."

Will she sing again?

"Too early to say. Right now I'm zapped. Those who've heard the song have liked it. I've no intention of singing my own songs, though. My throat gets dry when I remember the day I sang with Asha Bhosle."
