It's official: Sanjay Dutt weds Manyata

It was an event that was (eagerly) waiting to happen!

After days of speculation about their wedding, Sanjay Dutt ultimately silenced everyone by tying the knot with Manyata - his girlfriend of two years - under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, in front of a few close friends (as witnesses) on 7th Feb.

The location chosen was The Taj Exotica Hotel in Goa.

And yesterday, they solemnised the marriage vows - according to Hindu rites, in Mumbai.

Television channels broadcast footage of the action hero and his bride leaving a friend's house dressed in wedding outfits. The ceremony itself was a low-key affair and hardly anyone from the Bollywood fraternity was present.

Sanjay and Manyata have been seeing each other since October 2006.

This is the third marriage for Sanjay.

His first wife - Richa - died of brain tumour, and his marriage to former model Rhea Pillai, ended in divorce. Sanjay has a daughter from his first marriage.

Bollywood Buzz congratulates Sanjay & Manyata :o)

Meet Mr & Mrs Sanjay Dutt!

Sanjay Dutt has finally admitted that he is married to Manyata!

A half-page advertisement in Shiv Sena mouthpiece, Saamna - which congratulated Sena chief Bal Thackeray on his 82nd birthday - mentions the names of those greeting Thackeray as 'Sanjay Dutt and Manyata Dutt' instead of her surname, Shaikh Dilnawaz.

The ad says, 'Wishing a very Happy Birthday to Hindu Hriday Samrat Shri Balasaheb Thackeray from Sanjay Dutt and Manyata Dutt.'

Sanjay had always denied his marriage to Manyata earlier, and this is the first time he has announced the union in public.

It is rumoured that Sanjay and Manyata got married on October 19, 2006, in Mumbai.

The Dutts have always been on good terms with the Thackerays, ever since the Sena chief intervened and bailed out Dutt from jail in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case. In fact, after he came out of jail in 1995, he went straight to Thackeray's home to thank him.

It is also rumoured that the couple are shifting to a new home, but no official statement has come from the Dutts.

Stay tuned in!

First Look: Sanjay Dutt's EMI

Here's an exclusive first look on Sanjay Dutt's new movie, EMI.

As the title suggests, EMI (Equal Monthly Installment) is based on a story that any common man could identify with.

It is about the modern-day phenomenon of making assets or taking loans and then repaying back in EMIs.

Produced by Suniel Shetty's Popcorn Entertainment, EMI has Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Malaika Arora, Aashish Chaudhary and Neha Uberoi in lead roles.

Sanjay Dutt: I'll get 8-pack abs!

All those Bollywood hunks with six packs better step aside, Sanjay Dutt - the original stud of the silver screen, is back to claim his title!

Yes, Munnabhai who is out on bail, is using every moment of his freedom to get back into real action. "I am enjoying the luxury of time before I get down to serious work," said a charged Dutt who begins shooting for his next film EMI.

And, Dutt has a secret weapon up his sleeve.

He's enlisted the services of noted Hollywood training guru Mark Twight to get fighting fit. Twight had trained the warriors in the film 300 and got actor Gerard Butler, who plays the leader of the Spartans, into awesome shape.

Butler reportedly underwent months of strenuous workouts before shooting began. Dutt is hoping some of Twight's magic will rub off on him now.

"I have to wrap up some work and by end of February, he is flying down from LA. I will start training with him immediately," said an excited Dutt. He is confident that soon he will get a body that will be Bollywood's envy and his pride.

"Just give me six months, and I promise you I will have eight pack abs," added the actor. "Eight pack abs is a new concept here, but in the West, it's not uncommon. You can push your body to get it, but it's a very strenuous process."

He is not insecure or in competition with the league of present hunks in Bollywood.

"They all look damn good! I am glad everyone is understanding the essence of keeping fit," said Dutt, adding that working out has always been his first love.

"I am an actor not a body builder. Six pack abs don't guarantee success or make you a good actor. Your talent, dedication and a good body adds up to it all.

When I say I am going to get a fitter body, it's nothing to do with setting a trend, or that I am preparing for any specific role. I want to see how much I can push my body. It's a new high, a different kind of challenge for a man who loves working out."

Dutt, incidentally, has been an idol and inspiration for many Bollywood stars who today follow the path of fitness religiously. But the past few years, and his legal problems, have taken a toll on that once magnificent body.

"I have a strong belief in God, my loved ones, my fans, and most importantly in myself. I will bounce back again," said the actor who has himself been inspired by the likes of Sylvester Stallone and Al Pacino.

We're waiting for that 8-pack abs Sanju!

Sanjay Dutt bounces back!

It looks like Sanjay Dutt is back in action for good.

Even as he gets ready to re-start shooting with Suniel Shetty 's quirky production, Easy Monthly Installment, where he plays a harassed, economically challenged middle-class man, Dutt has cut one of the most spectacular deals ever by a Bollywood actor.

He will take home a whopping 24-crore pay packet for three films to be made jointly by Ekta Kapoor and Suniel Shetty!

Both being big fans of Sanju Baba, this is Ekta's and Suniel's way of showing the industry's solidarity with the superstar to whom destiny has repeatedly dealt unkind blows.

Says a source close to both production houses, "Sanjay has been in and out of jail, but not for a day did distributors/producers or his audience lose faith in his super-stardom. The 24 crores doesn't include the underproduction Easy Monthly Installment."

The scripts for the three collaborations are now being finalized.

One of them would be a full on action film for which Dutt is getting back into shape. On December 12, he resumes shooting and the schedule stretches for a month.

Sanjay Dutt is back home

Film actor Sanjay Dutt was released from Pune's Yerawada Jail today, two days after the Supreme Court granted interim bail to him.

Dutt's lawyer Satish Maneshinde visited the jail with the relevant papers and delivered them to the jail authorities. He was accompanied by Dutt's former secretary Pankaj Kharbanda.

Dutt, sentenced to six years imprisonment under the Arms Act in connection to the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, had been lodged in Yerawada Jail since October 22.

While the entire film industry can now heave a sigh of relief, all his fans can't wait to see their silver screen hero back in action!

The wait won't be longer for his fans as Dutt features in one of the stories in next week's release Dus Kahaniyaan.

Sanjay Dutt granted bail...finally!

The Supreme Court has granted bail to actor Sanjay Dutt when the petition came up for hearing today.

Dutt has been sentenced to 6 years' imprisonment under the Arms Act in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. Dutt is presently lodged in the Yerawada jail in Pune.

He was earlier granted interim bail on August 20 by the Supreme Court, but had to surrender after getting a copy of the TADA judgement.

Along with Dutt's petition the court also took up bail pleas of 9 others who have been convicted under TADA in the blasts case.

Meanwhile, Congress MP and Sanjay Dutt's sister Priya Dutt reacting to the news of her brother being granted bail said that it would probably take at least 2 or 3 days for Dutt to actually walk out of Pune's Yerwada jail as that's how long it will take for the legal formalities necessary.

''We are happy that he would come here soon. We hope for a better tomorrow and want to thank all who have supported us to overcome the situation,'' said Priya.

Welcome back Sanju baba!

Sanjay Dutt is in jail this Diwali

Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, sentenced to six years imprisonment in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, will have to spend his Diwali in Pune's Yerawada jail as the Supreme Court on Friday fixed November 20 to hear his regular bail plea.

Issuing notice to the CBI on his bail application, a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishan said that Dutt's plea could only be entertained after the Diwali vacation.

Sanjay Dutt taken into custody

Actor Sanjay Dutt surrendered before the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act Court in Mumbai today and was taken into custody after being given a copy of his judgment in the 1993 serial bomb blasts case.

Sanjay will be kept in Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail temporarily and will be taken to Pune's Yerwada jail in the evening.

On Saturday, the actor got a minor reprieve as he did not receive his judgment copy, because it was not ready then.

However, the court had handed over the 4,340-page judgment to 13 convicts that day, including 10 who have been awarded the death sentence.

Sanjay, who was sentenced to six-year rigorous imprisonment on July 31, had spent a few weeks in Pune's Yeravada jail before being granted interim bail by the Supreme Court.

Exclusive First Look: Sanjay Dutt's Chatur Singh - Two Star

After Akshay Kumar in Vipul Shah's Singh is Kinng, it's time for Sanjay Dutt to take up the surname Singh in his forthcoming film. Here is an exclusive first look of Sanjay Dutt's new film Chatur Singh - Two Star.

The casting is still on says director Ajay Chandok. "Sanjay Dutt is the only actor finalized so far. It's too early to speak about the film as yet."

And what does the tagline line 'Two Star' symbolize?

"Sanjay plays a two star police inspector and so it signifies his rank in the police force", says the director. "It will be a fun film."

The caption on the poster says - 'He knows everything... about nothing, He's on a mission... to destroy himself. Seems to us that Chatur Singh is one bungling cop and his name is just an irony!

Just check out the caricature of Sanjay Dutt.

Also, his shadow behind him is of Wile E. Coyote, a clumsy character from The Road Runner Show.

Sanjay Dutt gets into prayer mode

Three days before Sanjay Dutt gets the copy of TADA judgement, which will sentence him for six years of imprisonment on October 20, the actor will get into prayer mode.

Sanjay has organised a Mata Ki Chowki at his residence (Imperial Heights, Pali Hill) on October 17 from 7-10 pm.

A source close to the Dutt family says, "Nearly 200 people will be invited. The invitations are yet to be sent out. Only Sanjay's close friends and relatives know about it as yet."

Sanjay confirms, "Yes, I am having a Mata Ki Chowki at my house on October 17. My family believes a lot in Mata. Since Navratri is on, it is good to have a Chowki during these days. We observe the nine days of Navratri very religiously. We fast and do not consume any non-vegetarian food."

Ever since Sanjay has been out from Yerawada jail, he has visited many temples.

He visited Vaishnodevi (in North), Tirupati (in South), Dagdusheth in Pune and Shingnapur in Aurangabad. He even drove down to the Karni Mata temple (popularly known as the rat temple) in Pushkar.

Our good wishes are with you Sanju baba.

Glimpses from Mr.& Mrs. Dutt - Memoir of Sunil and Nargis Dutt

Nargis often wore a ribbon in her hair when she was young. It's unclear whether she and Sunil Dutt are pulling off or trying to put on little Sanjay's pants!

Mid Day culls out the personal notes in Mr. And Mrs. Dutt, a memoir of Sunil and Nargis Dutt.

# Nargis' tender letter to Sanjay, while he was studying at Lawrence boarding school, Sanawar near Kasauli:

Darling son Sanjay,

After I left you in school I was terribly disturbed - you were crying and I was feeling very bad. Sanjay - I know my boy that you must be missing home and me, we miss you too.

The house is empty without you - but Sanjay you must try to understand that it is for your own good - you will be a good student - and study well over there - Your results there are much better than what they were in Bombay. Now you have promised to do even better and I promise I will come to see you every month - you know you are our only son and we have great hopes on you - You must study hard and become a big man so that you can look after us in our old age.

So no more crying - pay attention in your class - there is plenty of time for you to play - please Sanjay for my sake be more attentive in your class. You must do this much to please your mother - I hope you secure better marks. Be a good boy; don't give any chance to your teachers to be angry with you anytime.

Promise me that you will study well - look after yourself you are a big boy - we love you too too much, you know that - God bless you and keep you away from all harm.

With all my love and kisses to you,
Your loving mama

Nargis was always in saris, but would sometimes wear a salwar kameez. Seen here with two-year-old Sanjay and six-month-old Namrata.

# Nargis' letter to Namrata (whose pet name was Anju), just after she left for the US the first time for cancer treatment. Everyone imagined she would be home within weeks. But it was almost a year before she could return.

Dearest Anju,

Your most affectionate letter - I opened in flight, but could not read right through - because I started crying - I am in such a mental condition, I have gone far away from all of you, and I don't what is going to happen, but I have faith in God, he is not going to be so cruel as to not send me back to all of you - I know how much all of you love me, keep praying for me that all will be well with me.

Please look after Sanju, see that he does not get mixed up with those silly boys again. He is too stupid in his head, he does not realize what he is doing and how it is going to pain him.

We are heading towards London, and from London there is another 7 hours journey - it is very tiring. As soon as we reach New York we will talk to you - give my love to Nix and tell her, her card was really sweet.

I won't forget to bring your candy, shoes, anything else you want, you must let me know after we give you the address. Lots of love & look after yourself and the house.

Yours,
Mom

Saving Nargis from a fire accident during the filming of Mother India, Sunil suffered major burns. Nargis nursed him day and night while he convalesced at Mehboob Khan's home in Gujarat, near Umra village where the shooting of Mother India took place. By the time he recovered, they were in love..

# Nargis Dutt's will, bequeathing everything to her loving husband:

I am writing my will in control of all my faculties and in complete senses. This is to record that in eventuality of my passing away anytime anywhere any day, I want that all my belongings should be given to my husband Shri Sunil Dutt. My locker should be allowed to be opened by him.

He should be in full possession of everything in the locker and deal with the things in them as he likes.

My property should be transferred to him. I consider him the only person who can deal with every possession I have. Actually there is nothing that belongs to me; in fact everything is given to me by him.

He has been my mentor, my friend and a very loving husband, and a wonderful father to my children. I love them all with all my heart and soul. So God be with them at this hour of separation and I pray for a good life for all of them.

# Sanjay Dutt's letter to his sister Priya while he was held at Thane jail for possessing illegal arms.

Thane Jail,
29th Oct, '94

My dearest darling sister Pri,

Hi! I hope you all are fine, and I hope you all have got my speed post. The days are passing slow and it get boring in here, but I have to pass them somehow - I read, write and pray a lot.

I started reading the Ramayan today and it is fantastic. I really haven't seen you properly nor have I received any letter from you - please write back to me and tell me what's happening.

It's 11.30 at night right now and I can't sleep. I am thinking about all the Diwalis we all spent together and it makes me sad that I can't be with you all this year, but God willing and with the grace of Baba, we will have many more beautiful Diwalis together. Pri, this Diwali call Rhea (Pillai) home and let her spend Diwali with the family - it will make me real happy.

You know Pri today, I washed my room - I put water and then Dettol soap, took a jhadoo and really did safai (written in Hindi) like we used to do on our terrace and now my room is all shining.

Dad came to see me today and he was sounding pretty good and positive and that was good. I wonder what's happening. He keeps telling me that in November things will fall in place - I hope it is TRUE - I am dying to come back home now. It's enough.

How is Anju, Saachi and Siya (Namrata and her daughters)? Tell them I miss them and how is Bunts (Kumar Gaurav)? Tell him to have a drink for me. Rest all is fine. I just hope to be out soon - at least by Dec end or early Jan.

I pray to God to make that possible. I miss you all and love you all too much. Write and tell me what's happening, anything positive? Rest all fine - I love you and miss you too much.

Lots of love,
Your Bhaiya

PS: Where is Baba's photograph Anju was sending? Send it soon.

Sanjay Dutt in Suniel Shetty's Easy Monthly Installment

Actor Sanjay Dutt will play a middle-class man in a film to be produced by Sunil Shetty's production company.

The movie, titled Easy Monthly Installment, will mark the directorial debut of a newcomer named Sourav. It will be the first film that Sanju will shoot after his release from jail on interim bail.

As the title suggests, Easy Monthly Installment will be based on a story that any common man could identify with. It is about the modern-day phenomenon of making assets or taking loans and then repaying back in EMIs.

Reports have it that the film will have Urmila Matondkar as Dutt's leading lady. If true, this will mark the coming together of the two stars after a long time.

Dutt and Matondkar have previously acted together in Daud and Khoobsurat.

Sanjay will begin shooting for EMI from October 12 onward. He will also sing a couple of songs in the movie.

Sanju is free for another month

Looks like Ganpati Bappa has really heard Sanjay Dutt's prayer, when the whole world bid him adieu.

Because, Sanju baba, who was sentenced in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case under the Arms Act, can now breathe free for yet another month.

Apparently, the judgment copy which was to be served initially has now been postponed to the end of October.

And according to the officials, Sanjay Dutt is expected to head back to the Yerawada Jail in Pune if the judgment is carried out, first copies of which are expected around October 15.

Sanjay to launch his own production house

Sanjay Dutt is going to launch his own film production house.

Ever since the release of Shootout At Lokhandwala, Dutt has been distancing himself from White Feather Films, the production house that he ran along with good friend Sanjay Gupta.

Gossip mills said it was probably due to some tiff with Gupta (due to alleged non payment of some of the crew of SOAL), but now it seems that Dutt had other plans.

Yes, Dutt is looking forward to begin his own production house called Sanjay Dutt Productions Private Limited.

Reports say Dutt will merge his late dad Sunil Dutt 's defunct production house Ajanta Arts into his company. Moreover, Sanju's sisters Priya and Namrata will also be involved in the company.

Sanjay Dutt will shoot for Alibaug and Lamha

Putting to rest all speculation about Sanjay Dutt's future acting plans, his close friend Sanjay Gupta said that the actor will resume shooting for Alibaug in Mumbai.

"Right now I'm in Goa shooting with the entire cast of Alibaug barring Sanju. But he joins us later in Mumbai to complete his work," Gupta said.

Sanjay, who is on interim bail granted by the Supreme Court, has already completed one shooting schedule of Alibaug in Mumbai after which he was incarcerated. He is expected to join the team later in the month.

Meanwhile, another of Sanjay's buddies, Bunty Walia is going full steam ahead with his plans of making Lamha with the actor in the lead role.

"I'm giving Sanjay a completely new look for Lamha. We start shooting next year," said Walia.

Dutts go down memory lane

http://www.ourbollywood.com/uploads/sunil-dutt-son-wife1.jpg
Sanjay Dutt, together with his sisters Namrata and Priya Dutt, has contributed to a picture book on their parents Nargis and Sunil Dutt titled Mr & Mrs Dutt: Memories Of Our Parents that is due for release next month.

The book includes letters from Nargis during her cancer treatment in America to Namrata including one that foresees Sanjay's troubled future. The quote reads:

"Please look after Sanju, see that he does not get mixed up with those silly boys again. He is too stupid in his head, he does not realise what he is doing and know it is going to hurt him."

"It's a coffee table book and it's about my dad and mom how they met. It compiles all the beautiful memories, of the time we have spent with our parents. I am looking forward to the release of the book. It will be out early October," said Sanjay Dutt.

The book's publisher expects the memoir to be a major seller of the season given Sanjay Dutt's controversial jail sentence.

Sanjay Dutt sets off for Vaishno Devi

Sanju baba has been seeking the blessings of the Almighty with fervour ever since he stepped out of Yerwada prison on bail, criss-crossing the country in the endeavour.

After offering prayers at a temple in Pune, then at the
Shani Shinganapur Temple in Ahmednagar, then at the Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi, the star's next pilgrimage stop is Vaishno Devi.

With the hope of not returning "empty-handed", Sanjay Dutt along with his girlfriend Manyata and others braved rough weather to reach the Vaishnodevi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir late on Sunday night.

They will seek the goddess' blessings for "everyone" including fellow beleaguered actor Salman Khan at the shrine early on Monday.

"Whoever comes to the shrine does not return empty-handed. Everyone knows this. I am sure that Mata will take care of her children," Dutt said.

Sanjay Dutt is back!

Actor Sanjay Dutt, released on Thursday from a Pune jail, where he was serving a six-year prison term given to him in the 1993 blasts case, said he had "full faith" in the judiciary but was prepared for a "long battle".

In his first public comments since he was sentenced last month, a relieved but haggard looking Dutt thanked fans, who stood by him while he was in jail.

"All I can say is that I have full faith in the judiciary, full faith in my country and full faith in the people of my country," Dutt told reporters outside his residence in Bandra here.

"I have a long battle to face, please pray for me," he said, reading from a prepared statement. "I will abide by the law and the decision of the court," said the actor, who made it clear that he would not take any questions from the media.

Dutt, who looked drained after his 23-day stint in jail, was accompanied by his sister MP Priya Dutt and her husband Owen Roncon when he appeared at the gates of Imperial Heights building, where he stays in Bandra's posh Pali Hill neighbourhood.
