Salman Khan released from jail

Rajasthan High Court has granted bail to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, nearly a week after he was sent to jail in connection with the chinkara poaching case.

The court, while hearing the revision petition along with bail application filed by the actor, ordered his release on a security of Rs 1 lakh and a bond of Rs 50,000.

The next date of hearing of the revision petition has been fixed on October 24.

Emerging out of the court, S Bajwa, the lawyer of Salman, expressed confidence that his client would come out clean and eventually be acquitted by the court. The actor's case was heard by Justice H R Panwar after Justice G K Vyas refused to hear Salman's bail plea on Wednesday.

After calling for the case records on Thursday, Justice Panwar had deferred the hearing till Friday.

Salman, who was arrested on Saturday, was lodged in Central Jail in Jodhpur after losing his appeal in the district and session court of Jodhpur against his sentence in the chinkara poaching case handed out by the Chief Judicial Magistrate on April 10.
