Indian films to be screened at Pak film festival
Two popular Bollywood flicks will be shown at a leading Pakistani film festival despite a government ban on public screening of Indian movies in the country since 1965.
Bollywood releases, 'Woh Lamhe' and 'Omkara' feature in the prime screenings of the Kara film festival, which began today in Karachi.
The film festival has become Pakistan's leading film festival and is being recognised internationally as a breaking ground for makers of alternate cinema in South and Central Asia to promote and find a platform to distribute their products.
Today filmgoers will get the chance to watch Bhatt's 'Woh Lamhe' whose music has become a rage in the country while on the final day 'Omkara' is to be screened.
Both the movies are widely available on the piracy film circuit in the country, which is allowed to function by the government given the huge popularity of Indian films and music.
"Today we have Indian actor, Shiney Ahuja and Director Mohin Suri of 'Woh Lamhe' in the Question and Answer session," he said adding Saif Ali Khan , Ajay Devgan and director Vishal Bhardwaj are also expected to participate at the Question and Answer session after screening of Omkara.
