"Omkara", Bollywood's take on "Othello", won the best adapted screenplay award at the Sixth Kara Film Festival here while "Khosla Ka Ghosla", about a middle class family's run in with the land mafia, was adjudged the best original screenplay.

Indian entries attracted large audiences, but relatively minor awards.

Indian film "Asspaas 1958" won the best documentary award carrying $1,000 as prize money, reported the Daily Times.

The festival that ended Sunday witnessed a controversy over the reported denial of a visa to "Omkara" actor Saif Ali Khan. Other members of the star cast could not make it to the festival because of prior commitments.
