Film on Amrita Pritam to be shot in Himachal
Actress Deepti Naval is looking for locales in a scenic Himachal Pradesh valley to make a colourful film on the life of Amrita Pritam, the first prominent female Punjabi writer.
The film will have scenes of Pritam's early encounters with lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi and Imroz, the two men in her life, media reports said Friday.
Accompanying Deepti Naval are scriptwriter Saini Ashesh, actress Pratiyaksha and actor Kishore Thukral.
They have already been to several places in the Mandi Valley and adjoining Kullu Valley to look for suitable settings.
Amrita Pritam's relationship with Ludhianvi is a part of Bollywood and literary folklore. Later in life, she lived with Imroz, several years younger than her, without marrying him. She died in 2005 after a prolonged illness.
Amrita Pritam won India's highest literary award, the Jnanpith, for her prolific writing in Punjabi and Hindi. 'Rassedi Ticket' (Revenue Stamp) and 'Pinjar' (Skeleton) are two of her best novels.
