Movies Coming This Season
The schedule of release dates goes topsy-turvy the moment cricket matches and school/college examinations are announced. With the World Cup [cricket matches] slated from 13th March to 28th April, a number of films have decided to re-schedule the dates. Let’s have a quick look at the changes this week…
More than five films were slated for release on 23rd February, but the list has narrowed down to HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT. LTD. and PROVOKED now. RED – THE DARK SIDE has been shifted to 2nd March since the post-production work is pending.
NAMASTEY LONDON, which was confirmed for 9th March, has been shifted to 23rd March. Reason: “Examinations,” Vipul Shah states. Also slated for release on this Friday [23rd March] are Mira Nair’s THE NAMESAKE and Deepa Mehta’s WATER.
Sanjay Gupta will have three releases in three consecutive months -- SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA [May], WOODSTOCK VILLA [June] and DUS KAHANIYAAN [July].
Firoz A. Nadiadwala will also have two major releases this year -- FOOL AND FINAL [April; date isn’t confirmed yet] and WELCOME [July]. “I want to give a two-month gap between the two films,” Firozbhai informs. While on FOOL AND FINAL, 2007 seems to be a crucial year for Sunny Deol, with three releases back to back: FOOL AND FINAL [April], APNE [May] and KAAFILA [4th May].
UTV has decided to postpone the release of METRO to May. Initially slated for 6th April release, the film will arrive in May now. “Since Shilpa Shetty is really big in U.K. now, we plan to give it an extensive international release. Plus, we are targeting the holiday period in Overseas,” Siddharth Roy Kapur of UTV divulges.
Adlabs has confirmed the release date of their multi-starrer CASH: It’s 11th May.
