Amitabh Bachchan v/s Shah Rukh Khan=SLBB !

The film industry was already abuzz with tales of the Amitabh Bachchan-Shah Rukh Khan war. Now, there's a buzz that Bollywood filmmaker Suneel Darshan's forthcoming venture Shaka Laka Boom Boom is inspired by the war.

The film tells the story of two celebrities from the world of music. Bobby Deol plays the role of an established singer, while Upen Patel plays the role of a relatively younger pop singer. The two are hardcore rivals, caught in a cut-throat competition, and the film tracks down their strategies to outdo each other.

A source reveals, “It is very evident from the script that the film has been inspired from AB-SRK rivalry. Actually the script changed from the initial one. And it happened when Celina Jaitley stepped into the film in place of Sanaa Panscholi. That's when Suneel got the script changed. Around this time, tabloids and magazines were abuzz with stories of AB- SRK's professional rivalry. So some of these incidents written about crept into the script and mingled with the rest of the fiction.”

When media contacted Suneel Darshan, he admitted that the film is about two celebrities and their professional rivalry. When asked about his source of inspiration, he said, “I have been in this industry for many years now, it's obvious that some nuances of the characters might have some resemblances with some Bollywood celebrities. But nothing has been done intentionally.”

Suneel, naturally, didn't want to comment about Amitabh and Shah Rukh's rivalry. “I am too small to talk about Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan's relationship. I have interacted with Mr Bachchan in the past, I have also met Shah Rukh Khan. Both are great people and perfect gentleman,” says Darshan.

Fact v/s Fiction

Lets have a sneak peek into Shaka Laka Boom Boom. And here are some of the things I noticed in the film, about the reel-real juxtaposition, that got me thinking whether Bobby's character isn't inspired by Big B, and Upen's by SRK.

Fact
: Amitabh Bachchan likes wearing suits and behaves like a perfect gentleman at all times. He is a man of few words.

Fiction: Bobby Deol plays the role of a singer who wears formal clothes and is a man of few words in the film.

Fact: Shah Rukh Khan replaced Amitabh Bachchan in Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Fiction: Upen Patel takes over a popular music concert which was initially launched by Bobby Deol.

Fact: In an interview, to Filmfare, Shah Rukh Khan once stated, “Amitabh Bachchan is an institution and you can never compete with your idol.”

Fiction: Upen Patel, in an interview in the film, says, “AJ (Bobby's name... does that sound similar to AB?) is much senior to me and I can never think of competing with someone who has been my idol!”

Fact: Shah Rukh Khan has an altercation with Amar Singh, Amitabh Bachchan's close friend, at an awards function in Dubai in 2004.

Fiction: Upen Patel misbehaves with Bobby's friend Celina Jaitely at a public function and thereafter she goes all out to malign Upen's image in the industry.

Fact: Shah Rukh Khan has said “I'm the best”, whether in jest or seriously, more than once.

Fiction: There are couple of scenes in the film where Upen Patel claims that he is “the best”.

Fact: Shah Rukh Khan hails from Delhi, he came to Mumbai to be an actor.

Fiction: Upen plays the role of a small town guy from North India who comes to Mumbai because he wants to be a popular singer.
