Amitabh Bachchan apologises to media

SO SORRY: Amitabh Bachchan tells the media what happened outside his home on Saturday.
Actor Amitabh Bachchan has apologised for the alleged assault on mediapersons outside his bungalow on Saturday.

Three photo-journalists were allegedly attacked by security guards escorting a cavalcade carrying Bachchan’s newly wed son Abhishekh and his wife Aishwarya outside the family bungalow, ‘Prateeksha’.

Amitabh on Sunday said he was “sorry” for the incident and “apologised with folded hands”. Amitabh clarified the guards who were allegedly involved in the incident belonged to Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, who is guarded by National Security Guard commandos.

“I have come to apologise, as I read that the media is angry and that they had a tiff with security guards,” said Amitabh. “I am really sorry and I apologise with folded hands if mediapersons faced trouble because of the security. The security guards weren't for me. They were Amar Singh's security guards.”

Amitabh said the incident probably occurred because the cavalcade carrying Abhishekh and Aishwarya was in a hurry to enter the bungalow. “My daughter-in-law had to reach home before sunset and Amar Singh was not well, so we were worried.”

Abhishek and Aishwarya on Sunday visited the Tirumala temple in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh and- like at their wedding-hundreds of reporters and photojournalists covered their visit.
