Amitabh-Abhishek, B'wood's hottest pair

BRAND BACHCHAN: The baritoned Bachchans seem to be hot property amongst the filmwallas.
They share a chemistry that most lead pairs could die for and if the new releases section is anything to go by then they surely are Bollywood's hottest couple.

It's not Shah Rukh and Kajol or John and Bipasha: it's none other than Abhishek Bachchan and no, not his lady love Aishwarya but big daddy Amitabh Bachchan!

“I’m doing a film called Pa with Amitabh and Abhishek,” said filmmaker R Balakrishnan. Apart from Pa, Sarkar 2, Shootout at Lokhandwala and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, these to be released projects have one thing in common - they all star both Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan. And this is not a first; the father-son duo has previously teamed up in Sarkar, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Bunty Aur Babli films, which we can safely term as more than average grossers.

So what makes the baritoned Bachchans a hot property amongst the filmwallas?

“Both of them together in both Sarkar and Bunty Aur Babli rubbed off really well. While Sarkar was on a serious note, Bunty Aur Babli was comic. They are like a great partnership, like Laxman and Dravid,” said director of Shootout At Lokhandwala, Apoorva Lakhia.

With or without son Abhishek, Amitabh has been a safe bet for producers since his comeback post Kaun Banega Crorepati. Despite some damp squibs like Eklavya and Nishabd, 60-something Amitabh continues to be one of the most bankable stars of Bollywood. Meanwhile, son Abhishek who started with disasters like Dhai Akshar Prem Ke and Kuch Naa Kaho, too, has grown into his own.

If Mani Ratnam's Yuva and later Guru proved his acting prowess, then masala movies like Dus and Bluff Master gave him the much required mass appeal. And J P Dutta is the latest to join the bandwagon with his film, Aakhri Mughal.

So is it a case of the Senior Bachchan's backing or Bachchan Jr's charisma? Either which way, this is one khandaan the Khan-daan will have to look out for!
