In an age of sequels and prequels, can animated sequels be far behind? Soon film buffs can catch an ‘animated’ Kareena Kapoor getting drenched in the rain a la Chameli style.

Pritish Nandy Communications has signed a deal with Motion Pixel Corporation for five 3D animated full-length Bollywood feature films. And the deal is, out of the PNC films Bollywood Calling, Sur, Mystic Masseur, Kaante, Jhankar Beats, Chameli, Ek Khiladi Ek Hasseena, Hazaaroon Khwaisehi Aisi and Pyaar Ke Side Effects, three films will be chosen to be animated.

The deal will see PNC handle the creative aspects of these animated films from the development of scripts, movie soundtracks, including contracting top Bollywood and international stars to do voice-overs for the animated characters. MPC will handle all components of the animation through Estudio Flex.

Pritish Nandy of PNC says some of the animated movies will be sequels of the already released movies or some could be even prequels. He says, “The animated versions will be even more exciting than the original feature films.”

Nandy expects to get Bollywood and international actors to dub for the films, “We will be dubbing these films in at least 15 languages,” he adds.

He informs the films will be released worldwide. “This just goes on to show the amount of interest the world is showing towards Bollywood cinema,” he says. The production of these films will be done in Mumbai and Florida. “The first film might take us about 15 months, but after that we should be able to release one film each every three or four months,” he says.
