Moser Baer signs up Anubhav Sinha for 12 movies


Home Entertainment Video company Moser Baer is planning to invest Rs 5 billion over three years in its entertainment business and has signed a co-production deal with filmmaker Anubhav Sinha for a basket of 12 movies.

While the company has acquired home video rights to 7,000 movies, it is also chalking out aggressive plans in the area of film production. Among the other directors its signed is Anthony D'Souza and Priyadarshan.

"We are in active negotiations with four other directors. The Priyadarshan movie will come up next year while the D'Souza film should release before that. We have also signed a 12-movie co-production deal with Sinha,"
says Moser Baer CEO (entertainment business ) Harish Dayani. Sinha has made movies like Tum Bin, Dus and Tathastu.

Moser Baer has shaken up the home video market by pricings its DVDs at Rs 34 and VCDs at Rs 28. The company is setting up a widespread FMCG-style distribution network to push its home video products.
