John Abraham's Hollywood Project: Luna

John Abraham seems to have become a regular in Deepa Mehta’s films.

After her Oscar nominated movie Water, Deepa Mehta has already signed John Abraham for her ambitious project Exclusion with Amitabh Bachchan. The movie will be shot later this year.

And now, at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, Deepa announced her next movie called Luna, which is based on a real life story of an American activist and environmentalist. As can be expected, the film will have John in an important role.

The movie tells the real story of a woman named Julia Butterfly Hill, who protested against the felling of trees in the Red Wood forests in the US by climbing a 180 foot Redwood tree. She came down 738 days later.

From December 1997 to December 1999, Hill lived atop the tree in a small shelter. Hill named the tree Luna. Hill’s protest bore fruit as a resolution was reached in 1999 to preserve all trees in the 3 acre buffer zone of the Redwood forest.

It is still not known who will play the role of Julia Hill in Deepa Mehta’s film. Stay tuned in!
