Two Satyajit Ray films in 99 Remarkable Films Of The World

Satyajit Ray's Pather Panchali and Aparajito feature in the list of the 99 best films of all time, according to a forthcoming book on World Cinema by Rajan Zed, an American of Indian origin.

Pather Panchali (1955), a simple tale of a rural Bengal family, which won the Best Human Document prize at Cannes Film Festival in 1956, is ranked 43rd and Aparajito (1956) takes the 81st position.
99 Remarkable Films of the World, excerpts from which were released on Wednesday, ranks Orson Welles' 1941 masterpiece Citizen Kane as the best movie of all time.

The book puts the 1952 Gene Kelly musical Singin' in the Rain at No.2, while the 1942 Humphrey Bogart-Ingrid Bergman classic Casablanca is the third best film on the list.

Others films in the top 10 are The Godfather, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Lawrence of Arabia, Vertigo, La Regle du Jeu (The Rules of the Game), Gone With The Wind and Some Like It Hot.
